I can do the Tier 4 missions with my A-wing, but I have not been able to do it with my X-wing. The trick is speed and disable the engines. Then I go back and destroy if necessary.

thanks for all the suggestions guys, i used the old hyper in hyper out strategy and i finally solod the black suns. i was able to avoid any outside trouble from the tier 4-5 oppressors and aggressors by taking measures to keep them far enough away. disabled the black suns one by one and then took them out. thanks again for all the help!

just wondering cause i am having a really hard time getting through them solo. i coasted through all the others with out even getting my armor broken through on tier 1-3. but being so massivly outnumbered is being quite a problem. especially since they are ally tier-4 ships. and not to mention every where i go tier-4 and 5 oppressors and aggressors spawn right near my misson.
What ship are you using? Maybe list some of your components?
I did my first tier 4 withmy x wingand one other x wing with me and we did fine, not saying it was cake but we did it.

Its possible that all the missions are solo-able, but it comes down to best parts possible and lot of tactics. i find my biggest problem is having the best parts for the mission i'm taking.
Very hard to find really good parts on TC, then again, it really hard to finda SW on TC. i think i counted a total of 6 last week. But i could be wrong. And a major lack of resources.

Up until the last patch, yes, with some difficulty. Currently, i don't think so, although i have tried.
Errm, i guess im going to have to change my responses to yes i can, and have.
But DAMN it wasn't easy. Bascially the only reason i got past the mission is because i took too long on the first part, so the game gives a new objective, which is typically a bit easier then the orginal first objective. All i did was get in an A wing and have the longest, most aggrivating fight ever.

Hedd, you may not have understood. The black sun grinding mission is cake. I can go from 0xp all the way up to 1mil xp which usually involve fighting 8-10 blacksun at a time. I am talking about the Tier 4.1 mission which is the mandetory mission after you level up for the first time. They send more then 12 black suns at you and it is much tougher then the standard tier 4 mission that you do to grind.

I did the Tier 4 missions without too much difficulty. Missoin 4.1 was overwelming. Having to take on over 12 Black Sun Tier 4 ships was tough, and I think I walk away from that one with almost no armor left, but did succeed. Mission 4.2 was cake.
Mission 4.3 was tough. I had to call in some friends as taking on 12 TIEs and a gunboat can be quite tough. Thankfully the AI was dumb. I built myself a Ywing LP and loaded up on armor and shields (2400 f/b level 8 shields). When I went into battle, all 12 TIEs went after me while the gunboat was on the Z95s helping me out. I was taking a beating while all my friends were not being hit at all and pecking off the ships one by one. I used emergency shields whenever I could as it boosts the shield regen rate at least 10 times so I was taking no damage. Eventually we took out all the TIEs and won the mission.
I actually have no problem with the tier 4 Black Suns and almost farm them on a regular basis. The longer you do it, the more show up each wave and the more cash you get. I just keep going until I have to do something or theirs too many which usually ends up being about 2 hours give or take. Not to mention they can drop some nice stuff too.

solo'd all my way to the corvette, failed twice (didn't do the corvette now)
took me 2 days, didn't even play that much, seriously it was a walk in the park for the most part
basically I used
z95 up to 2111, then Y wing lp, then x wing (of course), then for tier 4, A wing for mission, and X for duty (2hours straight = 1M xp)
of course I used imp programs (it's in the manual that anyone can use any program, so don't call for xploit plz), engine overload 3 and weapons overload 3, along with reactor overload 3.
started like 3 days ago, looking for a corvette group atm.

You might try not ejecting and let yourself get destroyed... after you repair your ship at the station, sometimes the mission continues as you go after a secondary target and while not 100% easier it can be done... after you take out the secondary target you colplete your mission and you can learn your next box.
This works a treat. When youget the first Tier four mission and arrive at the waypoint, the freighter does not appear (well didn't for me). I let myself get destroyed and then got towed to the endor space station and repaired (The mission was still in my datapad at this point).
Head back out to the waypoint and the freighter will then appear. The trick here is to target the freighter and make sure you follow it from at least 500m behind. Numerous waves of fighters then start attacking the freighter. The trick here is toNOT engage combat or targetany of the fighters that appear. Just keep following theFreighter and keep an eye on it's shields. Eventualy the freighters shields will get to about 75% and you will get a 'Mission Completed' message. Even with 10 to 15 ships attacking the freighter it's shields hold out a long time.
I've tried this twice with both my alts and also used the same principle when my guild buddy needed help with the same mission for his 2 alts. At no stage didwe get attacked by the ships attacking the freighter. Just make sure you only have the freighter targetted and stay 500 to 540m behind it.
It really was that simple, but it did take us several attempts to suss out this method.
Hope this helps

I could *almost* solo the first mission without getting blown up, but after that, I got my friend (a 3,3,2,2 reb pilot) to help me, and we finished it without a single problem. It's the tier 3 ones that are hard, they take so long!

anything is possible but it takes hours and HOURS of list staring/number crunching to modify your ship just right, with access to the most advanced hardwares and all droid programs, then more tests then more modifying then repeat all over again not to mention the long load screens between tests... when your ship is truly maxed out JTL becomes... well, boring. goups with average ships are much funner IMO.

Just last week I soloed all of Havoc, did tier 4 in an xwing with 3 crafted ion cannons.
