Nope.

Jousting is not in the least fun.

Lets not confuse this with AI. What we are talking about is a simple script change, and a "software upgrade" to their speed. I personally don't like it when game companies decide to go with overpowering the NPC's (in this case with a huge speed increase) instead of working on improving the AI. It gets done in too many games. I don't really like the new improvements. Not because it's more difficult, because honestly I don't find it to be so, even in a longprobe. What I find it to be is boring and repetitive. I would rather see the NPC ships use the same equipment we do, and fight just as good as us. NPC tactics are what this is missing. Whenever the NPC sticks to one simple pattern, then there is no challenge, and with no challenge, not much fun. Just my opinion though.

yes, the NPC need to change up tactics every so often.. when the npcs use a single attack pattern over and over players pick that up quick, if they alternated tactics to, run, joust, manuever, etc, that wouldremove the repetative 'turn and chase' or 'endless joust' fights. Having the AI use the same fight patterns again and again causes players to get bored with flying the same 'counter-pattern' over and over again

I agree, the NPC AI needs adjusting. What I find now is that it takes longer to destroy them, and if you have a group of three or four ships to destroy in a duty mission, it is very easy to run out of time and the mission fails. So either extend the time, or adjust the AI.

I agree, it takes me ages to kill ship in my y-wing with them always doing the same thing and my slow turning.

Actually, they are not being outsmarted by code. They are being outperformed by very superior NPC ships.

This current AI is quite dumb, actually. All it does is to fly straight, more or less. They can't really "outsmart" anyone.

These two factors has turned this AI into two extremes:

1. People with fast, maneuverable ships find combat boring, since they can get on the tail of the current NPC's without much trouble at all.

2. People with slow, sluggish ships find combat frustrating, since they can't maneuver in place fast enough to fire at the NPC's. When they get them in their sights, they are already too far away.

Who cares what the AI does? This is an online game. Go fight other players.

Because fighting other players will help people finish their required missions, right?

Right?

This conversation has gronw tiresome. I suggest you practice some more because, OMG, its what makes you better at doing something.

This argument sounds like the whole 'lets lower the standards in school, so everyone can get a higher grade'.

Ever consider the fact that maybe you simply need to work a lil harder rather than having the game change because you cannot hit the broadside of a barn?

i wouldn't complain about the ai to much or they may stick in the ai at the end of beta with super accurate firing and ship 10 timesthe speed and manueverabilty of thier player made ship counterparts and all doing the same manuevers. an impossible to hit. thats the dev idea of improved ai.it hink they dont have the time to develope ai that truely knows hoe to fly well within the confines of a ship capabilities so uping the speed and manueverability was a fast but wrong answer the the problem. it wasn't fun. alot of tier5 pilots were getting owned by tier 1 npc's with that ai. so i wont complain about current ai other otherwise knowing the dev thats they way it'll be impossible to fly then.

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

This is spot on.

When I fly my TIE Advanced, I don't even take damage anymore. The old AI was pretty bad, but now NPC ships have only one maneuver. They are faster now, but their lack of variations in tactics make for some incredibly dense AI.
