what is holding you back from getting a new chassis and then using the old parts...and more?

Blueprints cost me 950,000 credits (still the going price on my server at least). Chassis cost me another 100,000 for a total of 1,050,000 credits. All equipment is extra, but not included in the price as it is obviuosly reusable.

What's holding me back is that magical 1,050,000 extra credits am I supposed to have stored away in case of a patch.

This sucks for the people who already laid out their hard earned cash. You could take comfort in the fact that JTL is pretty new and most likely in the future there will be newer and much better ships coming out that will make all of these current ships look pretty weak. I remember when probots were uber and everyone wanted one and now look at the poor probots. There will be newer and better ships coming out and even the current post patch ships with its extra mass will look like nothing then.

Maybe you just play on a sucky server? I play on Lowca and I haven't seen a chassis blueprint selling for more than 500k and that is for the master level ships.

Here's the deal... EVERYONE who bought a privateer ship before this change is suffering from the same problem. Reality is that there are only a few people complaining. Not that everyone likes it but they understand that they signed on to this game knowing that things can and will change and they are ALWAYS changes for the better of the game if not a change for the better for you. Suck it up. Deal with it.

Offer the SW a few of your lots for dropping mines in exchange for a new ship.

Complaining on here will not get you a new ship. Taking your destiny in your own hands and doing something about your problems just might.

What they need to do is allow teh MSW to take an older ship(or any already built ship) and let them send it to the breakers for a return of 60-75% of the resources used to build it. This would let the owners of the older ships not have to pay as much for a new one because the MSW wouldn;t have to use as many of his own resources to make it.

Just an idea..

Well I think the new mass changes are great and help to balance out some of the fighters...but here is my problem. About a day before they made the changes for 11.2 public, I spent over 1 Million credits on my TIE Opressor. Now the mass has gone up over 20k, which would allow me to fit 3 space bomb launchers and a countermeasure system in my fighter. Boy would that make it one mean killing machine. But I can't, because the already made fighters didn't get the mass bump. I will be useless in PvP and PvE compared to my peers that are just making master.

1 Million credits in not an investment I can afford to make again! Can we get a retroactive mass boost please?

I am shipwright and I don't think my already made chassis will sell I don't care how real life is, this is a game and it should be fun. But now I will have to invest a lot of more hours "work" again to get back what I have lost.

Ok, first thing right away, this mass issue (no trade-in option for oldships just 3 weeks after release of game) is a huge brashness! For pilots likewise as for shipwrights. It might not be a problem for people who play all day long and got millions or billions of credits and resources. Ok you guys mightnot give a damn about it (but that's sure not the majority of players).

Of course nobody gave a trade guarantee on anything but it's not fair to people whospend their hard earned money (spending hours to get it) and the devs just make their work useless with one stupid patch (only because they weren't able to sort out mass of ships in beta). To cut things short, devs correct their errors on our backs again. Is that fair? is that smart? does that show any sense of responsibility towards us? NO!!! That's simply the easiest way to solve problems and the most unprofessional one!

It's good people do say their opinions about that attitude of devs cause devsdon't seem to be wanting/able to change it. I also understand that some people might not care about those things cause they are already overflooded with money. You might feel cool or smart to tell the others that in your opinion it's so damn simple to "solve" those probs yourself butthat won't help anyone whodoesn't have the same pre-condition like yourself (piles of money).

And like somebody said before already... This is no economy simulation for university students, this is a GAME! And games are supposed to be fun! And that means you don't want to see your hard work for hours go down the drain just like that!

P.S.:I paid 1.5 mill for mass maxed oppressor like one week ago. What is it worth now? 0. is that funny? NO! Why? Well, read above.

This is an MMO things change all the time. Republic blasters were changed, harvestors changed twice, food changes and so on. There is no trade in policy on most things.

They changed the CL on pets a long time ago (for balancing reasons) and they gave us those trainers that could change the CL on our favorite pet, so we could still use it... Don't see why they couldn't do this with our favorite ships!!!

I know you said most things... but a ship is a pretty hefty investment to just gaff off like this. Think it's a bad move on the dev's part not to have a trade in program.

Well, there's a big diff between the two cases (ch versus shipmass) the CH change made it so people couldn't USE their pets, the ships are still usable, you just can't load any MORE stuff on them, you can still load them to their masslimit.

And 1 mill for the ship? You got ripped off friend.

Your ship is not useless, it is not able to load as much mass as a new one, but that doesn't mean it has no use, load it up with the equipment you can fit into it and go play, have fun and ina few weeks, once you have looted enough stuff to have made your money back, you will find you need a new chassis as your current chassis has no hitpoints left.

I was lucky and looted a 80+ speed engine early on, none of my guildmates have an engine that matches it. They are not here complaining that their ship is not as good as mine because they don't have an engine that is as fast. Some folks bought their chassis from non-master SW, or bought those that were used in the grind, these have less mass than a master chassis, but those folks are not here to complain that their ship is useless.

Your fighter is still useable, still useful and you can still have fun in it, ask about, maybe one of your friends has a lightweight looted capacitor or engine you can stick in it to lower your mass usage and fit more in. Or maybe you can just carry on with the components you currently have and try and have some fun, stop worrying about having the absolute best kit and enjoy the game.
