Thread: Activate Collision Damage in PvP Areas.

I can't really argue with that, because whether or not PvPers would complain about damage from hitting rocks is, at the moment, baseless on both sides. You don't have a solid basis saying they would, and Idon't have a solid basis saying they wouldn't.

AllI can do is offer my opinion that, if I was in a PvP zone, fighting another ace and having to watch out for asteroids that would be complete blast!

You know as well as I do that the one constant and predicatable thing here is SOMEONE will complain, .

No player collisions but asteroids and such would be a blast even in PvE zones, but again not sure if it is as possible as you may think, I am not that advanced of a designer to answer with confidence.

Actually, it is possible even now, because, for a short while, it was turned on in beta. They turned it off for the above griefing reason.

In fact, I took damage the other day from lightening inside a nebula. It took my shields down a bit.

I was refering to PC no collison, but all other objects collision. So a player cant ram you but you can hit asteroids and such, that maybe a bit extreme to model on these servers that was what I meant.

Ahh. Yes, I'm with you on this one. No PC collision.

As I'm saying that, though, it would be an interesting last resort tactic in a PvP zone.

But, then again, if you have no shields and no armor, thus no weapons, to resort to ramming, all it would be is a kamikaze tactic, and would have no real tactical advantage...

So, yeah, no PC collision.

You got me arguing with myself!!

If it could be done without abuse, that would be cool.

(Eject) or (Ramming speed) buttons.

I dont know it sounds good but I have doubts. It would be fun as hell in theory.

Admittedly, I can see the problem with collision for ship-to-ship issues. But can we all at least agree that when a huge, hundred ton chunk of space rock slams into your ship, it should damage you?

Ha ha ha. Well, I just figure if an asteroid can take out the bridge of an Imperial Star Destroyer in Episode V (yes, it does happen at the bottom of the screen in one scene, and then cuts to Vader talking to someone whose holo-transmission flickers out suddenly), they ought to make tiny, tiny bits and pieces out of an A-Wing.

i'd definately like to see collision with asteroids.

the only pvp zone now, deep space, doesn't have any asteroids though.

personally i'd like to see collision turned on with asteroids and all capital ships. it's a bit rediculous when you see a NPC bwing bouncing all over a rock, and similarly when you are in deep space and you see bwings getting stuck in the star destroyer.

it'd be more difficult to take down a vette with collison on as well.

Yeah, as it is now, can't a decently fast ship just fly INTO the Corvette (especially if they have IFF to get them there safely), target it, and hit match speed? I know I got stuck inside a fighter the other day, and I was blasting it from the inside. There seemed to be nothing the AI could do about it. At the very least, ships should not be clipable. Make them bounce off each other or "push out" from each other, even if no damage is added.
