Thread: Star Destroyers?

I think lots of SD are fine as long as Rebs have plenty of Mon Calimari cruisers to counter them. The Imp TIE pilots wouldnt feel so hot once a Calimari battle cruiser enters the fray and starts wreking havok on those weak TIE's.

The easiest way to destroy a ISD or SSD with minimal losses in monetary value and life is to use star fighters and attack certain points.

why are they only in the PvP zone? heck i see them floating above planets all the time, they should at least be there once i get up there. thats false advertisement.

It would be awsome to see three star destroyers circle threw the galaxy in a random patern so that the risk of PVP would be increased. Like rebels are in a dog fight with some ties and all of a sudden three SSD's apear on radar and start unloading on the rebels and spawning NPC tie fighters. The same would happen for the rebellion, they could have three of those mon calimari ships circle the galaxy in a random patern also, staying in each sector for 2 hours spawning rebel NPC ships then at the end of the two hours jumping out. Then say every half a day the three Star destroyers and three rebel flagships meet by chance in a random sector and all hell breaks loose. And maybe if the Devs could do this right they could also have once per day a super star destroyer appear and whatever the rebellion uses to counter that appear for an hour long flat out battle to the death. With the imperial fleet and rebel fleet spawning NPC ships and escort ships and all sorts of crazy stuff. It would REALLY feel like star wars then.

If something so trivial is going to ruin the game for you, I'd suggest that you just not buy it.

Having a bunch of Star Destroyers in every system would be nice, but it would also lag the game up big time. Do you want to be able to play, or do you want Star Destroyers? I'd rather play.

Those aren't Star Destroyers. Star Destroyers are too small to be seen in orbit from the surface with the naked eye, and too big to enter the atmosphere. Those ships in the sky must be smaller variants flying at an altitude of a couple thousand meters (not in space).

For a TRYUE star destroyer, if it spawned within 100m of you, you shouldn't be able to get 500m without being space dust....those things have THOUSANDS of TURBOlasers.....

agreed. This is a time where the Empire is forming up after its losses at Yavin. Star Destroyers shouldn't be rare...

first off the smallest SD models are the interdictor and the victory class and niether can enter the atmosphere. now weather or not you could see them from space i dont know but they are there for effect.

there are ways to limit the lag a stardestroyer would make. i mean think of all the stuff we have on the ground. now take that and make it bigger. as we all know in the beta there is not nearly as much stuff in space as on the ground. so random spawns of star destroyers wouldnt be too bad. and also NPC dont make the lag we do

Guys,?

Can we get a little In game reality check here.

The game is supposed to take place during the BAD time for the rebels, This means GASP that the rebels are severly outgunned.

It isn't about fair in this instance its about picking battles.

The rebel alliance stayed away from large battles by keeping their people away from those areas, and using stratigic attacks similar to an island hopping campaign, only the alliance never stays in one place for very long they move on so as to avoid detection.

They pick apart the Empire during deep space runs, and supply runs etc.

There were Never hundreds of Mon calamari cruisers at this point there was a mere handful, that goes along with frigates and corvettes.

The alliance had very few Capital ships.

The empire however has more than 50 victory class star destroyers prowling the galaxy. Keep in mind though that the galaxy that we are flying around in is a miniscule part of the galaxy at large.

And yes I do agree that for the sake of JTL the REAL presence of the Empire would make it unplayable for most Rebels, but isn't that what being the underdog is all about? You have better ships, should have anyway.

This issue with balance disturbs me from a continuity standpoint.

We use all these expanded universe things but if the empire had these advanced tie fighters that are better than anything the alliance has the alliance wouldn't have won. Which pretty far they have been doing.

Pah

This thread has tired me. LOL.

P.S. I would like to see alliance and Empirials truely fighting, that IS the GCW what we have is a fair match like a regualted Boxing match there are weight classes and referees and a scoring commitee.

It has been said before If you want this WAR to be real add the overwhellming Imperial presence.

People who want to see ISDs in ever space sector need to keep a few things in mind:

1) You are not truely "covert" in space. If you are rebel and there is an NPC Imperial or aggro pirate ship near you it will engage you, even if your PvP status is neutral.

2) To progress in the pilot profession you have to do missions. The missions have dynamic spawns. One of the big issues in beta was having starter missions spawning near Tier 2 and 3 level spawns. Imagine the frustration if missions spawned near an ISD.

3) Spawning an ISD in the starter space zones (Naboo, Corellia, Tatooine) is like spawning a krayt dragon in newbie killing zones.

4) If you want to attack an ISD they are easy to find in the higher end space zones. Get a group of friends and go after it. Have fun.
