Nope. Sitting on over sixty million now. I could enter DS 2,000 times.

Empty of REBEL players, yes. But on Eclipse it's typically a pretty target-rich environment when Kessel is tapped clean.
I far prefer killing Nova Couriers over gunboats - they go down easier, are dead blind on the underside, and seem to share the same loot pool as gunboats, plus the fighter escorts provide far more of a challenge than the 'super spawns' in Kessel as they all aggro on you - rather than on the 50 other Imperial ships within 1000m. Far better for survival training.
Also, each Vette has its own fighter escort, and fighting them inside the turret firing envelope is even better training still.

I am a master pilot with a bazillion pilot prestige points. If I drop pilot and go imp pilot or reb pilot, will I be able to use that xp for quick leveling up neutral pilot again? And if I leave my dunelizard all loaded up, when I hit 1000 will I be able to fly it with all those higher level parts already installed?
And does anyone but me feel like Han would have no trouble flying an X-Wing or Vader could hop in a Dunelizard without too much trouble or would Wedge really have that tough of a time adjusting to a TIE? Busting us all the way back to rookie status just plain doesn't make sense.

When you drop pilot you loose all xp. But then you gain the master pilot bonus
