i had the same problem but this is how i got around it,in the quest window it tells you to search around a nebula, cant remember the name...but its a poi,i auto piloted to the nebula and sure enough..there they were.i hope this helps you guys
I think you're confusing your quests. The nebula is part of the station quests, not the Y-8

nothing happens when you fly into this nebula.
the mission is most definitely bugged.
did you try waiting at the POI for a couple of mins as the ships jump in IIRC
on another note the mining ship is not actually all that good for mining as you can't see much because of it's size and requires a 5 man crew to fill all ship positions
Better off fitting class 3 mining lasers into a fighter and using that tbh
yes i waited in the nebula for awhile-- also, captain koh didn't mention the nebula at all.
and, i know that the mining ship isn't very good at mining, i jsut think it looks cool, and i wouldn't mind having another ship in ye olde data pad that i can walk around in.

This quest is still very broken ![]()
But
I completed it when it was working with one of my alts and by far it's the best ship for asteroid mining. When properly equipped with the Y-8 mining laserit has outrageousrange and the yield per asteroid is higher than a regular ship with themark III lasers. With the 34k capasity largeY-8 cargo holdyou can stay aloft miningtill your armshurt. The special POBitems that can be crafted for it (3100+ hitpoint shields with 19+ recharge etc) make it almost invincible to all but maybe the Kessel asteroid bandits (why do you need diamond anyway
). Plus it's a super platform for n00b pilots to get low level XP while you blast away collecting rocks.
I take the Y-8out mining solo without any problems all the time ![]()
I also just ran into this problem. One of the reasons I bought RotH was to try space mining and the new ships. It's sad!
- The fact that its mission details screen is blank was probably intentional. None of the other missions in the Y-8 quest have filled detail screens.
- In the quest journal, under the Y-8 mission you are supposed to do, it says "Travel to the Kashyyk System". However, once you do "Travel to the Kashyyk System",your Quest JournalSTILL says "Travel to the Kashyyk System".
- The mission doesn't even START when you're up in Kashyyk space.
So the problem with the Y-8: Escort mission quest isn't that the waypoint is never given to you, the problem is that when you travel to the Kashyyk system, the mission doesn't know to start.
So, devs, you could probably fix this bug by closely examining the mission and adding a startline to it.

I'm just wondering how these bugs crop up completely out of nowhere, it almost seems as if sometimes they are intentionally created, to keep the Y-8 owner population down or something.
I think you maybe right on there! I'll bet it was all the impatient nubs that complained, sent in CSR reports and /bug(s) it so they just turned off the quest ![]()
Ship works great, the ultimate redneck miner. The ship just needs to besetup and used correctly. When I take it out everyone leaves cause I pnown allthe rocks!
The quest should be fixed, it's a very cool ship worthy of my datapad.
