Yea guild wars in space and also guild orinented missions. Were you have to have alot of members to complete. In return you get some good loot.

as far as we don't get petitions to fly em alone, I'd LOVE to see gunboats flyable, and why not, within another expansion, boardable space stations and flyable star destroyers (wich would require group system revamp)
Flyable Star Destroyers would actually require a JTL revamp. Space in JTL is just not big enough for that. If you've ever been to deep space, you would know how big they are in relation to the size of the space zones. Now imagine a few of these ships flying around in Dathomir space...

I like the idea of mannable capital ships (with all gun emplacements and such), but only in form of large scale PVP/PVE 'battlefields'.
For example, there would be a huge battle involving a Star Destroyer and a Mon Calamari Cruiser. Now, rebel ships could /comm the Mon Cal cruiser and land there. They could then walk around inside, man the turrets, repair leaks and such (not completely repair the ship, just a small portion of it). The Capital Ships would always have AI turrets as well, but there would be a number of extra turrets that could be manned by players.
Same for Imperials and the Star Destroyer.
You could always return to the hangar and launch the ship you came with to get out of there as well. If you fail to launch in time, you would be sent back to your starting location, if you managed to get away in time, you could still keep fighting in your starfighter.
Same could be done with Space Stations, Corvettes, Frigates, Dreadnaughts and more, just that smaller ships could be manned by less players than larger ones.
On some space stations outside battlefields, you would have casinos and other fun things to do, marketplaces and such.
I would also like to see this idea in conjunction with group missions that are more like the X-Wing Series of games, with large battles you can participate in. Take down a Star Destroyer, capture a Nebulon-B Frigate, help a Mon Calamari Cruiser battler an imperial Stardestroyer and such would be great.
Devs, just play some of the X-Wing Series a bit and create some similar missions (or just blatantly rip them off and rename the ships if need to be).

in my opinion i don't really think it is essential for the space expansion for more ships but the big thing they really need to add which really is a big part of space is the docking onto spacestations and factional captial ships i was disapointed to find out that we couldn't dock onto spacestations when i bought JTL.

We need more veriety aswell, theres about 200 ships/stations/capships/freighters etc in XWA, in JTL we have 1 station model, 1 frighter, and about 12 fighters. It starts to get repetative to look at.

I agree that we need more MP ships, such as the Lamda for Imperials. But gunboats put too much firepower in the hands of so few players. I think the DEVs would consider the gunboats as "unbalancing", so don't expect to get them.

I like Glzmo's idea a lot actually. These battlefields would almost certainly need to be instanced due to the computing power involved in having tons of people interacting both within and without the ships. However, it seems it wouldn't be insurmountable.
From a completely server-naive kinda guy, I am not certain if instanced missions are "transporting" characters off of a server (i.e., Gorath) to another server (i.e., Corvette) and back again. But that would certainly seem like it would limit the computing power needed.
However, the biggest issue is how do you make such a battle "happen". The number of faction players needed to generate such an amazing battle scene would need to be substantial. Like someone else said earlier, six players in a capitol ship just doesn't give it that "oomph" you'd like. Notwithstanding, it would be a cool battle, but you wouldn't necessarily be "in charge" or at the helm (likely an NPC job).
I've thought about ways that another expansion could focus on developing Master Pilots' abilities to wage a war on Capitol Ships (such as fleet management, weapons systems, planetary attacks, etc.) in a way that is similar to strategy-based games such as Civilization or the Star Wars Battlegrounds series (which I loved). But that kind of system doesn't mesh at all w/ SWG or JTL (not even remotely the same concept) or create true player interdependence. Though I'd love it. How would you like to see a skill tree that included certifications such as "Death Star Commander Certification"? It's a big picture thing and SWG in many ways is the "small picture": the little guy fighting it out in the Star Wars Extended Universe.
And, closing with the last of this unfocused rant
, one last way to get Capitol Ships into JTL would be to make them sort of themepark-type ships. You work your way through learning quad laser turrets, generator modification for shield allocation, hyperspace fleet management...etc. Would be awesome. You could enter the themepark by flying to the Capitol Ship and docking on it (imagine your amped out ship hanging out in a bay that you could look out onto!). But at the end of the park, I still don't see how you could "manage" the ship without some kind of instanced scenario.
Anyway...that was a fun foray into my mind. Sorry if I dragged y'all along for the bumpy ride
