In Shug Ninx's E3 Report he states that players will be given a free, basic ship upon starting a novice pilot profession. It is designed to get you your first few boxes of the profession, as it is relatively weak. The exact make of the fighter has not yet been decided. In the IGN Fan Fest Interview, Cinco Barnes tells us your starter ship will depend on which pilot profession you choose. Any player can approach an NPC to start the road down a pilot profession, as long as they are not part of an enemy faction.
i don't want a fighter... i just want a nice ship to go places in...

Going to see how vehicle custimisation works, and if it is all balanced, I will go with the A-Wing.

A Tie Fighter definetly.
Maybe a Hutt Fighter, like the one they gave to vets and such for avatars.

Once JTL comes out I'm resigning from the Empire and picking up a Hutt Fighter. Long live the Hutts!

I want a freighter type ship, but not that freakin YT-whatever ship. ahhh maybe like a merchant trade ship...i'll prollyhop in a x-wing too just for fun.
