Thread: Targeting Reticle way off since game went live!?

Waaaaay off on the reticle for me too. However, I tried to fly from 3rd person (ick, I know) and the reticle seemed more on to me. I would rather fly from the cockpit thought and I think this is perhaps a bug or sync issue?

Also, what's up with the druken AI?

Basically they just circle me and we end up following each other in this nice little dance. If I fly straight they will eventually try and level out behind me (which is reasonable) but other than that I just circle with them and they never try and jink or dodge to throw me. 0-o

Yea, the best place to shoot is the outer edge of it nearest the ship youre tracking and maybe even a little closer in.

"Flying against Tycho was probably the most difficult thing I'd ever done, and I had an edge in the Force. What he did, what Wedge did, without being able to use the Force made them far more special than any Jedi. They flew with their heart and brains and their entire being."

It's not like it's off by a serious amount people, come on! A good pilot compensates. You SHOULD be able to hit the target w/o the reticle after some practice. nevertheless, it's likely a ping issue. Your local computer thinks the ship is a bit ahead of where the server has it. THe communication lag results in a slight delay. Seriously though, if you can't compensate for the slightly off reticle, JtL is gonna be a hard road. All it is is a certain number of pixels shaded green. If being off by 10 pixels means you can't hit the target, go home. If you CAN hit it, stop complaining "Way off"? Please.

Ok, just so you know I was in beta and it was different, I have SAME connection, and Im not talking just to the edge of the dang thing Im taking sometimes almost halfway to target off!!! My connection has same performance as before, calbe Modem( I happen to install these for a living,.....I also have over 1000 real Life flight time... No not in combat, but I'm sayin I know what I'm talking about, Yes I can compensate, but its not a set amount. It changes as your distance changes in relation to target. As I said I can do fine withoutit, exept its in my line of sght and inhibits my view of target! So to some up, Yes I can compensate, and do, but I shouldnt have to,Its off!

Yeha, I agree...maybe then they should let us turn it off.

Also make the missle recticle be able to be turned on and off and/or resized, it's blocking my view too.

IN FACT, let us be able to adjust the size of ALL recticles including mission critical and group member indicators.

some times its dead on and some times it is off by a serious amount
with a 60 ping a constant 30 fps and no data loss highly doubt its a lag issue
zoom out to 3rd person and its always dead on
has to be a bug in first person mode

ya,ditto on this one, its usually differant for each ship how much the lead reticle is off, and i have to spend quiet some time aiming in differant spots to find where to hit mytarget. It was much easier in beta, since my lead reticle was always right where i needed it to be.

IT's off for me too.

I was in beta, and it was much closer then. I did not have a lag problem in space during beta, but the ground lag was horrid. Friday, I added another 512 meg of ram into my system, and the ground game now runs smoothly. The lag has all but dissapeared on the ground where it was a huge problem.

As space ran smooth before I added the extra ram, I would venture to say that the targeting issue is not a lag issue.

Well, were not pilots, were players that hopes that the reticule retrieves its purpose.

I can confirm it has to do with the target in some way or its speed.

My reticule works pretty fine with X-wings and Y-wings (a bit more difficult with Y-wing but understandable since the Y-Wing is quite flat and has less space to fire at from behind)

With Z-95 tho its another story.Same for A-wing but again this one is quite flat.

I think the thing is the game see everyship as the same kind,it doesnt take in account the area you can shoot at so in other word if all ships were X-wing shaped (or big ships) the reticule would work perfectly
