it mentioned in the quick start guide that keys such as q and e were used, that got me thinking, in chat are we to have to press t for example beforer we ca type anything, fps style, the the only problem with this is that it would leave you unable to pilot and chat in space is a neccessity for player squadrons
I see it as no different than chatting in PvP now.... except you'll have to make one extra keystroke..... not an issue for competent typers to crank out a few words and hit enter and be back on the controls...
I use FPS style set up in galaxies now even.... FAR superior for pvp... it allows you to set many, many more customhotkey binds.

Yah i know me and my friends will be using VT, its a must with quick communication if you are to coordinate. At least thats what ive learned from playing x-wing Alliance.

I been mostly soloing in space but I noticed I never see any chat
going on. No one answers me either. My channel is set to Spacial. Am I
missing something or doing something wrong? If I am please be specific
on how to fix it. Ground chat is fine. Thanks.

People don't talk in spatial inflight, plain and simple (I for example NEVER even look at spatial when flying, I concentrate on group- and guildchat, also many use teamspeak or something similar for easier communication with their group).

It's a bit difficult to type, keep your target in the crosshairs and do all the other stuff too.

yup.. I would say some sort of voice communications like Teamspeak is essential for grouping in JTL. It's a major pain in the ass to type "help, I'm getting waxed by that aggressor!" when you're trying to do everything possible to stay alive..

Doesn't help that almost everytime I try to start typing, I instinctively just start like I do on the ground, which results in some random window popping up and confusing the heck out of me
I thought there were a bunch ofmacros for space-chat though, for common things one might have to say in a battle. Can't remember where I saw it.

But you still have to type them in (and they're not short either), or have it as a button on the button bar, or hit CTRL-A and double click on them. Am I missing something, or is there an easier way of doing it?
