I think they should put casino space stations in, kind of like being on the ocean beyond the 2 mile limit.

I find gambling fun. However, the stuff available in the hotel is really unsatisfactory. The whole text interface isn't very immersive. I've had some success doing simple dice games with other players, but again, it is not visually immersive and for more complex games, can become a logistical nightmare. I tried playing blackjack the other night using a 10-sided die as a "card deck," and we had to agree on a cumbersome system to deal with keeping the hole card hidden, and there was no way to limit repeat "cards" - the dealer was rolling a whole lotta 2's. And then there was the whole problem of not allowing the dealer to play, since she could cheat because she was the one doing all the rolling and knew all the cards that the other players had.
So anyway, I think it would be really cool if entertainers could be game handlers in such a way that they had access to an interface that would better facilitate complex gambling games.

In a smugglers revamp post, it was mentioned that they might be able to post player casinos, hopefully good games if true.

Excellent game concept, Tinkergirl! I'm definitely going to see if I can get the hang of this.
Pal..there used to be a form of Pazakk (& maybe some other games)played at a player-owned casinoin conjunction with the Monday night parties at the Red Lekku outside of Kaadara (Chilastra). But I never did get away from the partying at the cantina for long enough to check out the gaming. Do you know if they played the same way as Tinkergirl describes? Maybe we'll see about doing a weekly party/gambling night on Fridays at my cantina in Kraytia after all the St. Valentine's Day balls/brawls are behind us. (omg! I'm getting married on Saturday! wth am I going to do about all of that!)

Nice idea, Palacek, but I think if it is likely that gambling is implemented in a more player-based way that it would (&should) go to Smugglers. The recent addition of the gaming tables (which may be made only by Smugglers) may be a start in that direction.
(Thanks for reminding me..I need to get with Ske to have some gaming tables made for my cantina.)

Nope, I've never checked out Kaadara's gambling scene.
Gambling going to smugglers sounds good. It's odd that that didn't even occur to me in the first place. And as for the Pazaak, I've seen that before and it sounds good (and thanks for the clicky to help those unfamiliar with the game), but I for one don't really want to go into all that trouble just for a 1-on-1 game. But I may look into that into the future if I find a good core of willing gamblers, and/or develop a Pazaak variant that works well with more people.

So nice to be needed!
My guild is blah about my smuggler talents nowadays -_- I'll make em when I log in next =)
The gambling thing is a concept I've tried to break in alot since getting the game. I cant believe the devs never added sabacc(I'm still waiting on it infact).
For now, I usually try dice games, though many people are alittle cowardly with it, even if the bets are small. The chance cube is simple enough, pick red or blue, if its your color you win. We go back and forth with this until we get bored. With the numbered dice its alittle more complicated, but it works. It's sure as hell better than the npc gambling crap in those hotels.
That Pazaakidea is AWESOME. I'm gunna try it as soon as I get home.

Just in case you get tired of that simple chance cube game, here are a couple of others that seemed to work decently for me and my gambling buddies. They're easy to learn and explain.
1.) Similar to Price is Right.
(2+ players and dealer) Each player picks a number from 1-100. Ideally they would each secretly tell his/her number to a "dealer," if one is present (we usually conscript the nearest ATK entertainer). The dealer rolls and whoever chose the number closest to, but not over, the roll wins. You can give a special bonus for somebody who gets the exact number rolled.
2a.) Chance cube variant.
(2 players) Each player picks a color. You roll the chance cube until one color comes up 4 times, and that person wins. If the color comes up 4 times in a row, you can accuse 'em of Jedi tricks.
2b.) Similar to chance cube, but for more players
(2+ players) Instead of using a chance cube, you can use a 6-sided die or 10-sided die to accomodate more players. The configurable die is currently bugged, so you can't use that - the roll isn't properly reported to other group members. If you want a 3 player game, you use a 6-sided die and each player claims 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.
3a.) Permutation
(2+ players) Each player makes a 4-digit sequence of numbers using the numbers 1-6. Numbers may be repeated. Then you roll a 6-sided die until one person has his/her numbers rolled in order, but not necessarily in consecutive order.
Example: Your sequence is 4255. You can win if 4, 2, 5, 5 is rolled, or 1, 4, 5, 2, 5, 6, 5.
3b.) Combination
(2+ players) For a faster game, each player picks 4 numbers, but this time the order doesn't matter.
Example: Your numbers are 4255. You can win you roll 4 2 5 5, or 2 5 4 5, or 5 5 4 2, etc.

Ske..I've got a bunch of the gaming table schematics but I only need 4 tables in my cantina. How about if I provide the resources, I take 4 of them and you keep the rest?
Btw..you guys want to do a casino night or something at my cantina in Kraytia sometime?

Totally!
Some people on Ahazi have run games of Sabacc in the past, and I had the chance to play once. It actually worked out really well, too... one dealer (who is not a player) runs the game, draws the cards and sends tells about secret card draws, etc. I should still have the rules in my email there...

Deila, I'd love to see those rules!
I think a casino night would be fun. A couple of sabaccor pazakk tables, a dice table. Maybe a trivia contest. And of course music and dancing. I think I'm going to start poking around at a few friends about it and see how many of them seem ripe for recruitment for being sabacc dealers.

I am so totally up for that....I've been waiting for this opportunity forrrrrreeeeeeevvvvverrrr, but Im a nobody too, perhaps my guild would attend someone elses events. I'd love to deal wearing the HC colors though ![]()
As for the tables, ill make em whenever I see you again, I'd happily take some extra tables off your hands too, our cantina is about to crumble, and we might as well revamp are new upcoming one with something better.
