Yes, I just use the keyboard for chatting, the "F" keys, the interface (such as the hyperspace map and the like), and some other secondary features, all the combat and actual flight can be done with the joystick if you configure the buttons intelligently.

I have a Logitech Wingman Force 3D. It's pretty good. Not a HOTAS joystick though.

Does the Logitech Exreme Pro have twist (yaw) and is it possible to use it and never have to touch the keyboard or mousebesides typing chat?

How do you know what the DEVs use???

the devs have used this stick whenevr they've shown off the game, ie shows, etc. i went to a couple of big stores to get a feel for a few sticks, and the EVO and 3D pro were the only ones that felt good. the saitek one is adjustable, and although it boasts more buttons half of them are on the right side of the base for lefties. so whether you're left or right handed, the opposite buttons are akward to use - its easier to reach for a keyboard once in a while. the saitek felt kinda toy like, as if it would soon fall apart if you weren't gentle. which, in dogfights, i am not. the 3D pro felt much sturdier, heavier, and comfortable. only thing is it's for righties only. so i bought both, and ended up keeping the 3D pro. hope this helps someone

yes, it has a twist handle, can be pretty much HOTAS for JTL (except for chat), but not for a good flight sim.

I really like the Cytech Cyborg Evo. I was thinking of the X45, and decided i'd wait until the x52 because of all the new pretty lights (that's litterally the reason, i didn't care bout the new features, just wanted the new 'look' of it). In the meantime i found a Cyborg for $25 at a local store so i picked it up to use until the X52 comes out.

After using it for awhile, i highly doubt i'll be getting the X52 afterall. The cyborg has everything you need, and it's all build into one unit (as opposed to seperate throttle/rudder and stick). In addition to that, my personal preference is on sticks w/ a twist rudder instead of the little rolly thing they have on the throttle side of the split sticks.

I've been using it in beta since about a week after the first invites started going out, and really like it, i do have 2 complaints that are keeping me thinking about the x52.

1) I would like to have more buttons that are easy to get to. It has a trigger, POV HAT, 5 thumb buttons, and 3 base buttons that are easy enough to get to (since about every angle is adjustable), but there's 3 more buttons on the OTHER side of the base, that in order to press you'd either have to reach all the way around your right hand, or let go of the stick.

2) The throttle is in an odd place. It's easy to use, but it's right under your right wrist while you're holding the stick, that means that you're pretty much stuck keeping one hand on the throttle and the other on the stick (basically they're both stacked on eachother) which forces you to keep the stick directly in front of you, as opposed to off to the side where you can opperate it with just one hand (getting the split stick would solve this problem).

Those are 2 really minor issues that i've come to live with without much of a problem... just keep moving the keyboard to the left and using my throttle hand to hit some targetting keys now and then - and back to the throttle again.

on the x52 they moved the rudder from the throttle back to a twist on the stick. I for one am glad cause for that reason alone i am gonna get it. I have the saitek cyborg USB gold and it is awesome(predesessor to the evo) I also have an x45 and i dont like it cause of the rudder paddle on the throttle side.

I use a Saitek X45...and as my arm recently got injured am glad the twist is on the throttle And its HOTAS to boot.

The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is prone to failure a month after purchase so if you go with that keep the receipt. The Freedom Wireless from them however I hear good things about.

I ordered a Saitek x45 refurb from the web site, it is less than half the cost a brand new one. Still being shipped to me, soI don't have any feedback of quality.

I ordered an old Joystick from Ebay that I used to play X-Wing Alliance. The Gravis X-Terminator Dual Control. I love it. It has a joystick on the right and enough buttons to be a gamepad on the left. Its huge though, so it takes up as much space as my laptop _ _.

I use the original MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro. I've had it since it first came out and still love it. Anyone know if JTL supports Force Feedback?

I amalso looking for a good controller for JTL. I'd prefer a controller over a joystick if anyone has recommendations....
