Thread: Hello, DEV's, why is everyone flying a JSF or the grievous ship now? Take a guess..

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but the JSF isn't Imperial only. I was an Alliance Ace pilot, all I had to do was drop Alliance Ace, become an Imp, get the ship, and switch back. I ground out Alliance Ace again and was able to fly the JSF no problem. At this point I'm a Freelance Ace (Rebel Faction), still no problem flying the Jedi Starfighter. Its not an "Imperial Exclusive". Additionally, the A-Wing is not comparable to the JSF. With a smaller hitbox, and much better maneuverability, the JSF is clearly superior. I dueled a lot of fellow Rebels in A-Wings this weekend and absolutelywiped the floor with them. Granted, other factors impact maneuverability such as the engine, and what level overload you are using, but there was still little comparison. Additionally, the 2nd gun slot gives you a LOT more firepower. One shot kills in all my PvP so far.
-In regards to the Crimson TIE, all I have to say is no. Look at the stats. It is not as maneuverable asa JSF. And only one gun mount, what a joke.

-In regards to the Vaksai, another clear thumbs down. I'm a Freelance pilot and won't even consider using one. I fly at 1300 speed using a high pitch/yaw/roll engine in a JSF, have it equipped with 2 RE'd Tri-Cannons (3900 Max with .720 effectiveness) and an 1800F/B shield. All that and I still have enough mass to upgrade to a Level 10 RE soon. All in all far more Firepower than a Vaksai, and much more maneuverable.

The Heavy X-Wing however is a very nice ship. Enough mass to fit 3 very nice level 10 RE's that will max at close to 5k after RE. Basically its a PvE death Machine. Lots of ships have the mass and gun mounts to fit3 guns of that caliber, but none match the X-Wings maneuverability.

Just think of these new fighters are the "composites" in space...

I still think the Red Tie is bugged a bit cuz it some times takes hits but receives no damage.

I have not commented on the ARC which is awesome looking but not being a Rebel have no way to get one. I would say it has to be a heavy class ship, so like the Vaksai, make it a little less maneuverable, but give it more weapon hardpoints and decent mass.

the ARC is very comparable to the X-Wing. the ARC's optimal throttle for bestmanuvering is slightly higher then the X-Wing but everything else seems very similar. it also has 3 hard points, one is SP and 2 MP. 150k mass is plenty, after setting up a viable X-Wing the extra 50k mass from the ARC is awsome.nothing should be changed on this ship in my opinion.

They should change the arc so the upper turret can be fired from the main cockpit straight ahead so that way you don't need 2 people to use 2 guns. And allow missles to be fired from the main cockpit.

I'm typically a Firespray pilot on my one character and XWing on the other. Spent a couple of hours flying the Vascai the other night and, while it could just be me, it seemed like the ship had major convergence problems when firing.

Food for thought:

I fly a heavy X-Wing and completely decimated a JSF the other night. He even got the jump on me and I didn't know he was there until I hit tab and targetted something OTHER than a tier 5 Tie of some sort. Nevertheless, one cap->shield shunt and a few shots from three overcharged 3700+ dmg blasters and he was toast. I was able to turn and track him faster than he could turn to bring his weapons back in on me. I have no desire to fly JSF or grievous fighter right now. ARC? Maybe. For now I'm happy w/ the heavy X.

If what you say is true about your dogfight then either he is a very poor pilot or has a really poor/pitch/roll/yaw engine running no or low overloads. If you're on Bria duel either TacitBlue or Ostat and see what JSF is about.

Vaksai 150k mass ONLY 1 weapon hardpoint??? WTH?

BAH! Now i dont want it anymore Iwas hoping it to be better... (the x-wing advaced has 180k mass imho the vaksai should have thesame. including the same weapon mounts!)

I disagree though that the JSF or Bellulab is "the" best ship ingame. This only applies to PvP and THAT´s because PvP is nothing but a IntaGib-Deathmatch and therefor totally pointless.

Where´s the real dockfighting? The Tactics of droid commands during combat?

Anywhere else, but not in SWG

A dockfight should be wonby the better pilot. Not by the one having the (mostly lucky) first hit!

But as for PvE there´s a whole lot of ships that you can use.

i.e. Killing a SD or vette with the bellulab or JSF will take much longer then using a B-Wing or Firespray with ordenance. Or even the Krayt (great ship) wich never needs ordenance on big ships due to it´s imense firepower...

No doubt in my mind that a skilled pilot with even average components can probably pwn my arse. Guess I got lucky on this one. I should note that on our first encounter I was sitting at a standstill checking email and responding to /tells. He got the drop on me and blew me to smithereens. I repaired, overloaded, declared, and went right back in (was in Kessel) and then I took him down when he tried to jump me again. Can't a reb grind some faction in peace!?

I'm on Bloodfin, the "unofficial not-in-space PvP" server. We are just now starting to see a surge in space activity due to the piloting requirements from the expansion pack. Just to give you an example, I was in both Kessel and Deep Space last night with a fully crewed Nova Courier and only saw one other player the entire time. Every once in a while you'll see a swarm of players waiting for the vette to spawn, but I think that was so people could get master to fly the Y-8.

The last thing we need is those greedy S O B crafters making special ships and capital ships.

Just because its cool everyone can expect a several million dollar price tag, hopefully SOE will be smart and countiue with the trend of quest rewards.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I support NO DECAY.It should be run like EQ . No 20k price cap on the bazar and everyone can craft. Its has worked for 7 years on everquest and there is no decay plenty of money and no crazy prices.

Decay is only good for crafteres and bad for everyone else.
