Thread: vendors
Ok I've got a question for all you experienced merchants out there.
I've got a vendor in my house, and I was wondering if I was to change my vendors what would happen to the items in the old one? Would they automatically go to the new vendor or would I have manually take all the parts out and redeposit then into the new vendor?
Thanks
Fortunately, I had a run on my sales last night, and when I checked this morning there were only about ten items left on the droid. Shouldn't be too hard to pull them, upgrade, and reload.
DEVS! Please FIX THIS! That would have been very disappointing, and those of you who got nailed by this bug have my sympathy. (Not that my sympathy will buy you a cup of jawa juice, but I mean well.)
I'm sorry Zemirah!
*laughs and sighs* I have to say, this is pretty much one of the bigger annoyances of mine right now. I put 'all' of my factory crates on my vendor with the thought, hey if they sell, great..otherwise I'll just remove them when I need to use them, right?*grins*
Of course I deleted that vendor in favor of my uber-cheap Random humanoid vendor. *chuckles* My factory has been extremely busy ever since.
I really hope this is the first bug fixed in the glaring list of Merchant woes...There are a lot of depressed merchants over this..You spend a lot of time making your items 'perfect' giving them great descriptions and whatnot, just to lose your ability to reference those 100+ items.
I'm not sure programatically how difficult it is, but I would say that if you remove a vendor, and have a second vendor, all items should become tied to the second vendor's primary key value. If you have no second vendor, when you do put a second one, the items 'tie' themselves to that vendor's key..just make it a part of the algorithm of placing a vendor..it checks to see if there are any items without reference belonging to you, and it takes over the reference.
I'd assume there would be complications..as the items are also tied to an 'area' what if you remove the vendor, your house and move to a new planet? Yikes..*is glad he doesn't have to program this* I just hope it gets fixed! *grins*
I think It should work like this.
If you have more than 1 vendor in any given building, they share the same stockroom.
If you delete one of the vendors, all his items automatically go into the stockroom (under the region tab)
If you go to the other vendor you should be able to re-list or retrieve. If you place another vendor you should be able to re-list from the stockroom.
HOWEVER If you only have 1 vendor in a house and you delete the vendor I believe all items should be lost. I do think however some warning confirmation should be given.
I *Think* this is the way it is supposed to work, but the *cough* many Merchant bugs are preventing it working..
If you want to do it "real world" style okay.
I am not hiring a traveling sales person. I am hiring a clerk to stand in my store and sell items. Now, I am present when I fire him, because I have to be, do you think that I am going to let the guy walk out with 150 items that belong to me? Be real.
Now if you were talking about a traveling sales person, that wanders around town selling my items, well, I've still got to be present to fire them right? Am I going to let them wander off with my stuff? I don't think so.
I'll pull out my very big stick and swat them with it.
The system is bugged, you are right about that, but it is so bugged that there is no telling what is a bug and what is supposed to be happening.
