Thread: ARC-170 useless ?
Favos the point is that it any role for starship is done better by another ship. So may as well go get that other ship.
Sure, if you like the way it looks, you can always make it work for you, but it has no real combat role. You'd always be better off in another ship.
POB ships are the multiplayer ones you can walk around - like the Nova, YT-1300, and Decimator.
Comparing this ship to the Nova isn't really fair. Big deal ifyou can fit more firepower in the Nova, you seldom can focus both cannons on one target anyhow. You can pull off some of that in this ship, not to mention the pilot has much more control than they would in a POB.
With one gunner this ship is a blast in Deep Space, makes gunboat hunting much more fun. The fun aspect of flying with another pilot makes it worthwhile as well - not everything in this game is about being uber killer leet, ya know.
There's a great guide on using the ARC floating around here, might have fallen back a page or two if you hunt for it.
Portalized Object
As in when you step into it you are portaled into a mini-instance that nobody on the outside can see. That's why houses have no windows and everything inside them loads up when you step inside and why starships have opaque windows on the outside.

heh... I love hearing the Rebs complain about mass... try fitting everything into a TIE Interceptor with 49k mass, THEN you can complain about 125.
That doesn't really count anymore with the Heavy TIE and JSF
Far from useless, just not useful for the things you're used to.

Ummmm thta still doesn't explain what POB stands for.
It's driving me nuts not knowing what the exact words are for P O B ?? LOL
Phaseable OBject or something similar to that. Kinda like Mobile OBject for the MMORPG/MUD term MOB.
Can also be used as Player On Board.

i love hearing imps complain about anything... jedi starfighter, atst, nova troopers(or whatever that high end pet is), good droid programs, very small profile (THE most important thing in space), no convergance problems like the xwing/z95/bwing... cool armor....thats why i'm an imp now, but i was reb for a while... nothing on reb is half as good as imp.
The movies are SCIFI! but in game things actually have to work to be useful... and multiperson ships are pointless. (unless they get a bigger missile payload or allow you to reload "GOOD" missiles in flight)
the ONLY purpose to POB or multiperson ship is to powerlevel people or to decorate
