Ahhh, OK. So its not that they wouldn't work in pvp, its that they're not needed in pvp because they are overkill.

Very cool guns. Would any tier 5 have the "possibility" to drop this or what?

I've looted level 10 guns from Tier IV and Tier V enemies. I looted about 40 of them before I had all the right ones I needed to get the damage, mass, and vs. shield/armor where I wanted it to be for the three guns.

Thanks for the info. Guess its time to kick the tires and light the fires and get out there to see what I can get.

....and I was all excited about my tri-linked 1500-2500 damage blasters.

That's some heavy firepower! I need to do more REing.

The level 6 reward engine you get on Tier III used to be 92 speed. Now its only 78 speed.

RE or RE'd is indeed Reverse Engineering. This is a Shipwright capability that allows them to combine similar ship components to createa better component.

Example:

3 space loot parts (lets say 3 lasers)

First they these 3 lasers have to be the same RE level (not necessarily the same cert lvl). Cert lvls and RE lvl currently don't necessarily match. But for the sake of the example lets assume these 3 lasers have the same RE level of 3. (the RE number is how many weapons are needed to RE)

(I am simplifying this)

Gun 1

Stat1:20

Stat2:10

Stat3 10

Gun 2

Stat1:10

Stat2:20

Stat3:10

Gun 3

Stat1:10

Stat2:15

Stat3 20

When the Shipwright combines these the resulting Gun will look like this with the RE number adding ona % bonus to all the new stats.

Combined Gun

Stat1: 20+3%=20.6

Stat2: 20+3%=20.6

Stat3: 20+3%=20.6

Thats the gist of how RE works. Bascially its a very very good thing to have done.

Ok, don't flame the noob here. You say you got them "RE'd". Does that mean reverse engineered? If so what for? To copy them or to make the mass less?

Thanks

XComCaptain explained it pretty well. Basically what Reverse Engineering does is let you combine multiple looted items together. The process takes the best stats from all of the items you put in, and then produces a single output item. A small percentage bonus is also added to the stats. The number of items you need in order to RE something is determined by the items RE level. (Generally, an item's Reverse Engineering level is the same as its Certification Level, but very rarely you get loot drops with mismatched levels.) The guns I linked to in my first post were all RE Level 10 guns, meaning that I had to collect 10 guns each in order to have one RE'd.

Also, when you get something RE'd the percentage bonus is as follows...

  • Level 1 - 1%

  • Level 2 and 3 - 2%

  • Level 4 and 5 - 3%

  • Level 6 and 7 - 4%

  • Level 8 - 5%

  • Level 9 and 10 - 6%

The bonus is applied to all stats. For stats such as damage, or vs. shields/armor, the bonus is an addition. For stats such as massor reactor energy drain, the bonus is a reduction. Another area some people get confused in is that they think that when you RE, all of the input items need to have the same name. This is not the case. The items only need to be of the same RE level and of the same general type. For example, any ten guns with an RE level of 10 can be combined. It doesn't matter if one is an ion cannon, and one is a disrupter, and so on.

Anyone have a screenie of what these yellow blaster bolts look like? So far I personally have only seen the usual green and red, purple, that big blue energy ball one, the one that looks like a little red fireball, and the squiggly one that comes off the Incom Tri-cannon. Just curious if these yellow ones just look like yellow bolts or if they have a different graphic.

Here are the guns that I know of that shoot the yellow blaster bolts...

Level 3 Mandal QV-3

Level 4 Rendili FR-9

Level 4 SubPro Triple Blaster

Level 4 Kuat Pounder

Level 5 Hoersch

Level 9 Armek Advanced

Level 10 Armek Elite

If you can find one of those you can see what its like for yourself. It not necessarily a better animation than any of the other ones out there, but I just picked it cause it seems to be one that is very rarely used, especially when it comes to high level guns.

So those are the ones that make the yellow. Good to know.
