Thread: Whats the fastest a ship can travel?

I have a 97.9 RE'd l10 in my Vaksai, and I can hit 1631 boosting with EO4 (and do loop the loops inside the forks of a space station). If I had our guild SW make me one of the 116 spd engines she can make, my PYR would drop from 79-85 to 62, but my top speed would be well over 1800. If I went solely for a racing ship, and put in my L8 booster, yeah, I'd break 2k I think.

Hmm, sounds like races will come with these improved crafted engines. Vette spawn to despawn anyone? Throw in a few overt Rebels and Imperials...

My Heavy Scyk goes about 1125 with Engine Overload 3 and a 92.9 speed RE engine.

((Here is a quote from a fellow guild member in Venja on Starsider:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hands down the Vaksai for the win in any test of speed and the number is 2016 top speed with boosters firing. The requirements to achieve this speed take alot of the ships mass so she's a tad under gunned (MKIV blaster with speed subcomponent) and has light shielding (MKIV shield with intencifier 1920 f/b) The bulk of the mass is used on a MKV engine with overcharger and a reverse engineered cert 10 booster not to mention a heavy reactor to handle the power needs of running an engine overload 4.
As for a combat role I see this fighter as an ideal hyper fast missile dilivery system.Since nothing I can think of short of another Vaksai can come close to outrunning her nothing will be out of strike range.Combining fast missile strikes with a dirty little privateer trick know as E-pulse any other fighter craft should get creamed in a dogfight.
The only down side is it's kinda hard to adjust to bluring speeds so handling is a bit odd to say the least.

Reward engines are now obsolete. I still have yet to try my Mark V engine in my awing.

How are they obsolete? I hadn't realized that shipwright crafted engines had gotten *that* big of a boost.

Shipwright engines got a huge boost. They got about a 10-15 point boost for top speed and a 10 point boost on the pitch, yaw and roll rates. They're still not on par with some of the RE'd engines but they're a far sight better than the pathetic excuses for engines we had before.

agreed, when i seen a level 7 crafted engine with 103 speed i was shocked... then bought it wonder what kind of YPR a level 9 engine can hit with 95ish speed... must talk to my shipwright

anyway, i hit 1250 unboosted with EO3 in my advanced X-Wing and 1532 boosted (103speed engine, 30 top speed booster)

maybe the engine was 101.3 speed... can't remember now. i'll check later.

Here's what I got when I was messing around with my Imperial Guard Interceptor tonight.

You can beat that speed by a few points if your server's had better resource spawns, but it's probably within about 10-20 of the absolute upper speed limit.

Oh yeah, and I should add that's a completely useless ship loadout--nothing but an engine, a booster, a reactor, and a droid interface. I wonder, though, whether a Vaksai able to travel at those kinds of speeds would make for a good PVP ship even with the low PYR.. you could outrun anything and just strafe in and out of other dogfights. Would be fun to experiment with, anyway.

I've found gunships easier to destroy with a faster engine. My Krayt now has a standard cruising speed of 1087 where previously it had about 882. charging and firing, boosting past and hitting cap-to-shield-3

because you go so fast, they don't have enough time to land enough shots on you to put youin trouble.

big fast engines can take some of the skill out of killing some things
