Thread: Anyone using TrackIR?

So what do you prpose I do to get more fidelity out of my Track IR3 in WWIIOnline?

For me I need slower movement, not too slow, but slow enough for me to be able to follow my target and an abilty to minimize movement while in the forward view so i can line up my shot before zooming in. I have the same problem in FS2004, but only while trying to land. If i cant keep my view stationary, Im unable to properly line up on the runway on short final, especially if there is a cross-wind(oddly I cant use small increments in adjusting my instruments when the tracker is active also).

Im interested in the new 6DOF, in the hopes that it will atleast allow for more fidelity and less undesired screen movement.

Just tried my Track IR in Space last night. I couldnt get it to work in enhanced mode but that could be due to not having the TrackIR running before i launched JTL. I did however use it in mouse mode and just use it like the free look with mouse. I still cant get used to it even though i have had it for a long time. Its a great product its awesome, just not for me.

Amuro0079 : it is in the game as of the latest release (11.3. see above post)! i assure you. it's already done.

madcow: oh madcow.
-enhanced mode is not the same as mouse mode. it really isn't. mouse mode doesn't remember center position. isn't absolute positioning. etc.
-you do have to have the TrackIR running when the game first starts for it to be recognized as enhanced by JTL.
-again, there really are a lot of controls available in the TrackIR software to let you personalize the whole experience.
the technology is too new to expect it suit everyone right out of the box. this is why we put in all the different controls.
-good luck!

Natty: there's a hotkey for "precision mode" in the current TrackIR software (v3). precision mode slows down the movement drastically. you can set this to toggle on/off, or only work when you hold the key down. (and most joysticks will let you set a "key press" to one of it's many joy-buttons)
so yeah, this would help for those moments where you want top precision. with the current software...
-and yes, the vector expansion knows when you're rotating. so it can ignore all other motion if you want. so it makes it much easier to "hold still." because if you're leaning instead of rotating, it can ignore that unwanted motion. (ie, you can shift in your chair as much as you like, and as long as you aren't rotating your head, the view won't move). (i'm talking about 2DOF gaming here).

We're releasing a big brand new software version tomorrow (free to download. Only works with trackir3 or 3-pro, and only runs on win 2k/XP).
a preview image of it is here:

Just got back from a visit to your web page. I'm impressed! Are you going to put up a demo video of TrackIR in JTL? I'm almost ready to buy, but would like to see a clip of TrackIR in JTL.

Thanks,

Beautiful, I'l have to check it out. Between the head tracker and 3D glasses, I am almost set. I finally have everything I wanted since a kid for game immersion...God its great to be a gaming adult(aslong as you slip it past the wife)!

Now all i need is for you guys to ismake a Brain Stem interfacing port and I'll be set!!!

In case you are wondering, YES!! I would pay to have someonejack a port into my central nervous system!

NoVaTydr : i do plan to make a demo video of TrackIR usage in JTL. planning to re-do all of our current game demos with a unified approach (less commercial, more demonstration). so it'll probably be 2 weeks at least. Plus, it'd probably be best to put some more time into the game, so i won't be recording the whole demo inside the basic rebel training ship, shooting ties and pirates. (these screen shots i'm seeing in various reviews, of ships with players just milling around, have me drooling).
and i hear there's a millenium falcon style ship, where secondary players can run gun turrets? SWEEEEEET. have to see if any of my heavily galaxies-addicted friends have worked their way up to that yet.

time time time. never enough time.

No point in using TrackIR if you're flyingin TIEs anyways, unless you turn off cockpit.

Is it just me or does it default to reverse x axis for anyone else?, i.e. you need to invert your x-axis to get it right in JTL...?

amuro - i've started a new character just to explore the empire side of things. while it's only immersive inside a tie, it's actualyl useful outside a tie (ie, zoom out to third person). so your head controls the view but you can still click and joystick. i can't get over not having to turn on the mouse.

drewkempa - i noticed that the day after the 11.3 release, in a rebel ship.
i don't see it now. don't know if they fixed it, or if it's a rebel training ship bug. hmmm. which ship are you getting it in? are you still getting it?

Did for me to, no biggie just reverse it in the trackIR program.
