My concern here would be if there isn't much speed difference between a light "fast" ship like the A-wing and a heavy "Slow" ship like the Y-wing....then why would any one fly the lightly armored fighter? I hope it doesn't happen. I would hate to see mostly B-wings, heavy Hutts and TIe Bombers flying around. *Think Comp armor"
I'm sure they will have something worked out. And with twitch.. The best pilot is the best pilot .

I think it said somewhere they were moving at half speed so you can see the graphics, in some similar post to this a while ago.

I wouldn't worry so much.

Can anyone in beta confirm that the ships ARE faster?
....................Or would that be breaking the NDA?

I'd doubt that they were at "lower" throttle because they were in combat.

they prolly were cuz when we get in ther eits gonna be more high speed and not as pretty too watch, remember this is geared toward casual gamers too, if they showed combat at full throttle and not calm looking, the casual gamer wouldnt buy it.

Hmmm...If i was a casual gamer I would want high speed. But if those clips ARE half speed then yeah i guess it would look a little chaotic (i no i spelled it wrong
) Especially because there is no "up and down" like there is in the rogue squadron games. (thank goodness.)

I have a Heavy Tie and a ETA-2 both have engines with speed of 102. Yet the ETA-2 only goes 975 and the Heavy tie goes 1005. Why is this?

Different chassis have stats which modify the performance of an engine. Big ships like the Bomber and Oppressor will cost you more speed, while smaller ships will cost you less.
That I know of so far, only the A-Wing gives you a perfect one toten speed conversion. 102 speed in an A-Wing equals 1020 speed in space.

There is a speed modifier (multiply it by your engine's speed to get your craft's speed) on every chassis. The JSF has a 0.95 while the Heavy TIE has a 0.98. Ships like bombers and POB will run around .85 while different fighters range from 0.9-1.0. The exact modifiers for every ship in the game can be found in the pilot faq stickied at the top of this board.
