Sure, like the X-Wing games. Those were pretty tough to solo.

But maybe add more strategy to it.

My points exactly, in X-wing and Tie fighter games, it was a solo experience, you had dumb AI wingmen, but basically anyone could solo any capital ship in the game.

The reaction to a Star Destroyer or Mon Cal Battlecruiser dropping out of hyperspace in front of the single pilot should be .. "Oh Sh*t, where's my back up or the nearest hyerspace buoy" .... not "oh great here comes phat lewtz and easy FPs for me" (aka Imperial crackdown).

A capital ship should be feared and only possible to defeat with

a) other capital ships - or -

b) large numbers of opposing fighters.

Ah, I get your point. I agree it should be very hard. But, I must really suck, because I had a terrible time trying to go up against a capitol ship in those games.

hm it was very easy i played all those gmes on hard but it was still too easy to kill a ISD. It was more hard to kill a MC-80. I hope the dev will not make the ISD as easy as in former games couse its very easy to kill them with destroying there shield generators. But the cap ships where so much easier then 10 ties where on you WOW that was realy hard work.

Well, then that confirms it, I suck.

Actually ISDs were soloably...VSDs much easier....

But its hell trying to get thru all the TIEs and Laser Emplacements (yes turbo to a degree...but the Laser Cannon emplacesments mainly on the sides are HELL to break through as they're designed for anti-starfighter/light capital ship use)

Simply take down the 2 Shield Generators (yes theres only 2...it wasnt until Rouge Squadron 3 we got that 3rd one...which according to the X-Wing/TIE Games was really a communication's bulge) and then bombard with alot of bombs.

This is incredibly difficult for an x-wing to do as they don't carry heavy enough bombs and most likely will be destroyed trying to kill the shield generators with laser fire. A-Wing? hah..suicide...I have managed in the X-Wing games with my trusty A-Wing but only with cover (making quick runs with concussions against the shield generators and getting the hell out). Y-Wing? Enough firepower...too slow.

So yes...an ISD really IS a team-orientated beast (VSD to a lesser degree) but if you have a few starfighter allies covering for you and as decoys...it can be done with one ship (not so much destroying the Hull Intregrity, but taking the shields down)

I personally hope they make JTL exactly like XvT or XWA (my favorite of the entire series). But to take down an ISD in record time with least amount of causilities? You needa well organized squadron...X-Wings and A-wings distracting the fighters, with Y-wings (or B-Wings if they're in the game) targeting the shield generators then hull with X-Wing support as well as perhaps a few A-Wings making decoy bombing runs that will take brunt off the Y-Wings and assist in destruction.

Btw also a comment...

Hence my term "organized" if you dont have a well organized squadron, and not very many are skilled...yes an ISD will be very very hard.

And then yes capital ships and/or a large swarm of fighters will be needed.

But even with one squadron of X-Wings (12 Fighters Normally)could you take down an ISD...hell that was one of the first few missions in X-Wing! You just need organization and skill for a small band doing it (as history has also shown...)

since this is twitch based it will be hard to solo a star destroyer but if your a damn good pilot(like me)u can do it remember this is nothing like the ground

ccccggggggggggHOSKA ASREEN OF ECLIPSE "your bakeryproducts are weak old man"ggggggggggccccWhen people refer to something that is Star Wars canon, they are referring to the "official story" of Star Wars.

George Lucas says (love it or hate it) that only the Star Wars movies are truly canon - that is, that only the movies offer the true story of what happened in the Star Wars galaxy. According to George, all the events that appear in the Expanded Universe - comics, novels, games - did not actually happen in the Star Wars galaxy, but are only additional tales that provide "what if" scenarios and events.

Many people hate George Lucas for this, since even though he personally approves all Expanded Universe material, markets it under LucasFilm, LucasBooks, LucasArts, and profits greatly from it, he still says it is not canon.

It should still be impossible for one shipto do no matter how good any pilots think they are.

Right opportunity...right weapons....a single fighter can bring down any ship....

The Movies have alot of this hehe...

Head-on with any capital ship? PFFT its impossible...but using tactics and organization it can be quite possible...

Ok just making a point here but Han was fighting 2 star destroyers and didn't get blown to tiny bits and taken to Jabba's Palace. He evaded them. Star Destroyers should be near impossible but the lasers should not just lock on to you and blow you up in a matter of seconds

Correct he didn't get blown to bits, but one of the boldest characters in a pretty well armed ship was Afraid to engage one in combat, that says it all. To Be Star Wars, players need to be in large groups/squadrons to take them on, not get one stuck on an asteroid, plinking away at it from the other side, then come bragging to the boards on how they "solo'd" a Star Destroyer.

My flying has always been guided by the force...and the perfect joystick...i had an AWESOME one a while back which i would play rougue squadron 1 on comp with, and got gold medals on al llevels many times...oh, the joy of flying loops around tie interceptors, then shooting them to bits...dont misunderstand, the later missions were quite challenging, but i was up to it...nowi need a new joystick, as the reason i stoppe dplaying RS was because my step dad bashed it one too many times after losing, /tear... i would certainly have given those imperial laser gunners a run for thier credits...if i can find a really good one again, i will be out there with the best of them, doing my part to take down the empire...i bet that with a balanced squad of a-wings for anti fighter, b/y-wings fer hvy dmg and x-wings fer just about anything( versitile craft that it is) it can be done...thing is, capital ships NEED to have fighters, and lots of them...your not gonna attack an ISD and just have to dodge the cannons...you will have nearly a wing of ties on your ass, you will need some serious dogfighting skill for that.... ALL cap ships need some type of fighter escort, npc or otherwise... i dreamt of commanding a cap ship since i first saw galaxies, and the thing on the site saying JTL is the exp...that and being a turquiose wookiee...guess ill end up not being turquoisem but have the rest
