while i like the econ effects, the fact that part of advancing in the game is stilll dictated by the free market-ness of the ground game and thus those of us non-power gamers are still at a disadvantage when were not out in space. but again it is refreshing that for once still rather than money/items dictate the outcome of a battle and hat off to SOE on that.
but barring that theres tons of bugs with some of the tier3+ missions (mostly with imp...) that really needs to be looked at.

One thing to be born in mind is that equipment prices are going to fall way way down in a few weeks. Becoming a master shipwright takes by far the most resources in the game. The only master shipwrights in the game now are the ones who stocked up on the resources they would need in advance of release.
Now they are cashing in on their foresight because of the incredibly high demand and very small supply. In a couple of weeks the other master shipwrights will come online, (I figure it is going to take me about 2-3 more weeks to get the resources for my char.)
Once that happens, prices will fall off a lot, and even casual gamers should be able to afford even high end crafted items.

This will change. When we have a critical mass of Aces, and enough tier 10 parts to reverse engineer, you'll see some nice stuff go for big money. We haven't nearly pushed the system yet. We also don't know what weird things will drop at high levels over time.
I like to think that things will stay even, but I think that the studliest engines and guns will always go with a big markup.

nice post. i think the ground game was once like this, but as with the ground game, jtl will likely change as more ace pilots are competing for good parts. i use a z95 with all looted parts and the tier 2 & alot of tier 3 are lucky to get a shot off, because i can easily stay out of range of their guns, and it's pretty easy to get behind them. one thing i love that will not change is how you don't need buffs to play in space.

Nice post, the only problem I have had is a double edge sword, shipwrights don't get factories.
On the negative side I have to spend so much time trying to stock a store. There is no way I can keep a decent inventory level of anything. So I have raised my prices higher than I would since I can't keep things in stock, if I were able to factory run them.
On the plus side, without factories there are niches for all. I will probably only make 3 components and missles. That leaves lots of other things for other people to make. However, this means the consumer will have to visit multiple locations to find what they need. I am trying to combat this by starting a consortium with other shipwrights to share a space and try and offer everything in one location.
Shipwright is the biggest time sink in the world right now.

Well said Eric.
I only hope that JTL keeps its current feel of "Anyone can do this and have fun".

Right now it seems balanced, but,
- I haven't seen any *real* pvp
- We haven't seen the system evolve fully yet.
So I'll reserve my final judgement on it till then
good post though, what do other people think?

I agree, very good post. Funny thing about JTL, the only problem I've had so far (aside from lag on the ground) is feeling a little overwhelmed at times about where to go. There so MUCH space. Hahahah.
