If anyone is acting like they're going to release voice chat tomorrow that would be you. There are certain things about this game that people will be bothered about that may have a lot of people speaking out, but the way your ideas jump ship several times and how you constantly come across like a spoiled child not getting what they want I'm almost afraid to continue on in this post.
So far we know that for some reason or another you don't want voice chat. That's perfectly fine. You're more than welcome to not want something, but at the same token we are allowed to want what we want.
We're asking for voice chat in space. There are plenty of people that use voice chat with the ground game. I have the ability to do so and sometimes do, but I am very interested in roleplay which is contrary to your opposition to your point that roleplay will be destroyed on the ground with voice chat implemented.
Main this is there are those of us who can't type very fast. I am one of those people and I already know I'll be terrible in space combat now. Having to type out messages or warnings will get me shot up very quickly and I'd be a sitting duck out there. What having voice chat does for me is allow me to work on my piloting skills. It will be my skills that determine how well I do in space. It won't be how fast I can hit F4 or F9 while typing "can I get a heal".

THE POINT IS, THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE PLACED INTO THE GAME!!! GET A DEV IN HERE TO COMMENT....
Every ones going Crazy about how cool this is, when im trying to Explain The Con's That keep it outa leage for SWG
Ok, let's analyze this....
Intergrated Voice Chat
Pro's
-------------------------------
- To be able to communicate easier with your wingmen
- Eliminates the need for all three (or more)3rd party programs
- Makes the game more immersive, by using a headset you can feel like you are in the movies
- SOE has done it before for a twitched base MMORPG, and could do it again if needed
Con's (as toldby Mandal)
--------------------------------
- Species and/or genders would sound the same by language or voice
- JTL is a MMORPG, and should not be like any other twitched game
Key Points
---------------------
"Space is a dangeous place", this was exclaimed by a dev of SWG. I for one, would like to slide on a sleek headset, and converse a battle plan with my elite squad of wingmates while in space. It would provide the user more of a "hands-free" environment, that would allow the player to focus both hands on controlling the craft, other than trying to give orders by typing via keyboard.
Voice chat is the only way to effectively give commands while in space. However the ground game, does not need this addition, since it is not twitched base. We, the supporters of this addition, has developed and molded the shape of this inclusion.
- Voice chatshould ONLY be in space
The reason behind "space only", would be this is not your basic MMORPG. "Jump to Lightspeed" is a "twitch based" genre. In other words, it's not your typical "turn based" or "click and button spam". The ground game would remain the same, the addition will not effect the ground game.
- Voice chat ONLY in your group
"group only" would reduce lag, and would makeonegrouproom's maximum limit of twenty per group, which is the current max.
- Instanced servers for voice chat
The devs have stated the text based servers are seperate from world servers, i don't see voice chat servers being any different. An Instanced server to handle only voice chat would decrease the servers load, enabling the players that choose not to use voice chat not to get extra lag.
- Space has less to render
The ground game has textures and lighting glore, the space game however has less of this. Since the space game has less to render the players using voice chat would not lag as much as one would believe.
- Implementing a mute and/or on and off switch for voice chat
Implementing the ability to give choice to the user, is crucial. 56k users might not want to use voice chat, and we are aware of this. Included in this proposal, we would like to included a mute button for inappropriate users. Also, we propose an on and off switch for voice chat, allowing the user that has either a lesser broadband connection, or 56k the ability to turn off voice chat.
- Typing will always be default
We understand and feel that typing will always be needed. Voice chat will only be a secondary option for those that want to communicate easier. typing via keyboard would stay in JTL for those that either do not wish to use voice chat, or those that can not.
Conclusion
---------------------
We want SWG/JTL to be entertaining and fun
! This addition is nothing more than an addition to the game, and will not take away or subtract any of the future game (JTL)and current game (SWG)features. The supporters and I love this game, and wish to continue playing the "StarWars" saga, which we all know and love. I hope all of u consider this, and support us in this proposal.
Your support is needed, thank you
