Thread: question

Why are people making a big deal out of the stim-less healing?
Seriously. Why? Why does are people using up time and energy complaining about something so utterly pointless as this, when you could be doing something much more constructive like testing the changes of medic. We haven't even started testing Doctor yet, and already people say that Doctor will be pointless, etc. etc.
Give it a rest, please. I see absolutely no reason to complain about this healing system, to be perfectly honest. I sincerely think that some people are just looking for *anything* to complain about.
Because some of us make a living selling stims/buffs maybe?

Bottom line is, Santos, for you, this is what you've wanted, a combat role as a healer. I'm happy you and the others are getting what you want. Go out, embrace it, and make it your own as they say...
To the crafters, we're losing a significant part of our customer base. Doctors don't need our product anymore because of the CU. Can't you at least see that as a little reason to complain, be concerned about, and not like the new healing system?

I don't see this to be a problem to complain about, period.
If you want the same function that Doctor has right now, you will pick up the medic crafting line of Medic, and the Engineering Techniques line in BE.
If not, you save yourself some skill points.
For those who want the crafting, you will be supplying the general public with stim packs. You will be creating the enhancer packs for the non-crafting Doctors (much like the current system of selling buff packs to fellow Docs).
How much is there to craft? Well, I can't see the crafting schematics in Bio-Engineer, so I don't know exactly what subcomponents will go into what item. But this is a list of what the BE crafting line will include:
Bacta Toss Enhancer - CM enhancer - ranged heal
Stabilizer Enhancer - Medic - used to cure states
Bacta Spray Enhancer - CM enhancer - area heal
Nutrient Injection Enhancer - Medic/Doc - health buff
Bacta Infusion Enhancer - Doctor - Heal-over-Time
Bacta Jab Enhancer - Doctor - Higher powered heal
Endorphine Injection Enhancer - Doctor - Action pool buff
Neurotoxin Enhancer - CM - Health poison
Deuterium Toss Enhancer - CM - Health DOT
Disinfect Enhancer - Doctor - Doctor - heal disease
Thyroid Rupture Enhancer - CM - debuff attack speed
Traumatize Enhancer - CM - debuff mind regen
and Instant Stim packs of various levels
So by picking up a crafting tree in BE, you will be supplying 1) fellow non-crafting docs, 2) non-crafting CM's 3) non-medic players.
If you honestly think that these enhancers are pointless, fine. But these are what the crafters will have to work with, and it's a pretty wide variety of crafted items. Doctor itself is not a crafting profession anymore, but last I checked you had 144 skill points left after master Doctor in the CU system. If you want to keep those skill points empty, and be purely master Doctor, that's your own problem. I'll be using the extra points for the crafting, and keep my template identical to what I have now, and I recommend you do the same if you want the crafting.

Can't speak for anybody else here but that is my main reason of complaint.

My template will stay identical? Great! Then what's the arguement?
See right now I'm a healing/buffing/crafting Master Doctor, Master Medicand a Master Rifleman, withthe rifles and the combat XP side of Marksman thrown in (since I need those to remain MR after the CU.
So you're saying that after the CU I'll justbe a Master Doctor, Master Rifleman, Master Medic with the Marksman columns and with four lines of med crafting in the BE.
Thank the maker dude, you're a lifesaver! I thought I was going to have to give up being a Master Rifleman in order to get the BE stuff...
good advice here

Okay. Ill tell you this cause I spent this past weekend playing the Test Center. Although I did not play as a Jedi, I can tell you about some of the CU so far.
The CU is gonna take a little getting used to. Simply because the way we play has been changed. Attacks are no longer automatic so you have to get used to using your icons to do an action. Since they've made us all start out as novices, the grind for xp has become drawn out. It seems like were getting less xp per kill and not doing as much damage. This may be because we were novices so I'm not panicking yet. But one thing I will tell you, although damage types and stuff have been changed, combat has not been nerfed but just reformed. So, as a Jedi, I feel pretty confident that you abilites will not change as much as your playstyle.
This "Bacta Shot" self healing thing is a little weird to get used to.
It cannot hurt for you to do as much grinding as you can before it goes live. But be very thoughtful about what you train in as you will undoubtedly wind up doing some respec.
My current suggestion is to grind "business as usual" and don't worry too much about the CU. I think what you will find is that there will not be the reticent "MBH in 3 days" as in the past. But those of us who have elite chracters will still be "da bomb" as we were pre cu.
Your fundamental problem here is the fact that you watch too much tv. In real life the majority of "field medics" where if fact full blown doctors. Your referring to PJs (Air Force ParaRescue "So that other may live" = their motto actually in Latin, who have the distint responsiblility to recover downed pilots behind enemy lines, recover astronauts, sea rescues, ect. Different specalized mission, different specalized purpose) in your refrences about combat medics. At the squardon where I worked in the Air Force, the doctors where required to log as much flight time as the pilots because in combat they often rode rear seat to them). Sigh. Actually rather than sit an inumerate countless of examples that it isnt some hybrid medic often in the field but a full blown doctor I would simply say turn off your tv and pick up a book. Your insulting Military Doctors by making comments with no true knowledge of the field or experience.
