I'm sorry, but with pen and paper don't you have people playing as other species? Don't some play as different genders? Roleplaying is like acting. If you let the fact that the actor isn't green and scaley hinder you then you are not participating in any kind of roleplay.

I agree the emotes and such would possibly bear no meaning, but those who are into roleplaying wouldn't let that bother them because they'd still type out their conversations. For someone who talks about roleplaying you sure don't put a whole lot of faith in those that either exclusively roleplay or are heavily interested in roleplaying. I for one am the latter and I'd much rather read what's being said than hearing the person behind the character. I could care less if that person happened to be female with the best voice I've heard. As much as I'd like hearing it I have more fun applying my own imagination of character voices to certain characters. It's the same as reading except you don't have the aspect of imagining what the character looks like.

Voice chat won't be the death of roleplay (believe me there's barely any on various servers). It'll only stop those who aren't really that interested in roleplay anyway.

By the way, could people please put all their thoughts into one post please? If you're responding to a post at least specify who you're responding to or quote them. Veterans you have the edit button. Please use it.

Voice would not be very commonin the cantina, maybe some entertainers would invite you for voice chat. But text would still be the anonymous way to communicate and spam, voice would only be for groups or specific situations

i know i'll be glad to speak with my crew in space without making my ship destroyed, then leave everything, begin writing, and meanwhile getting killed.

Your the only one who thinks the way you do. All your anti-voice chat posts make no sense. You have some stubborn irrational viewpoint about how voice chat would ruin the game. When rational people point out how wrong you are you start rambling non-sense about how there will be no text in the cantina *tear* and other equally invalid points and predictions that would only happen in you mind and not in reality.

Mando, where did this go from voice chat in space to voice chat in the cantina? I thought the voice chat would be ONLY if you are in space, so you are able to communicate better with others.

In X-Wing vs. Tie, X-Wing alliance, and all the others, they didn't have voice chat I know, that's not a big deal. However, this is a big deal, in those games if you died you could come back and have a COMPLETELY new ship. You don't have to go to the ground, find a shipwright, pay him money for repairs, and then go back up in space. In JTL, you will have the same ship, and will have damages, not letting you fly again until you repair it.

I for one, would not like to be typing to my squad, then because i spent my time doing that, i get blown up by a missle, a star destroyer, or even a tie advanced....

Typing would still be intacted, allowing those that don't have a headset, or want to use voice chat such as yourself use the keyboard. Also, you would be able to turn off voice chat.

Remember Mando, some people play differently than you do, and I for one much rather RP saying commands in voice chat like, "Rogue 6 reporting in." or "Watch it kipp, you got one on your six!".

I would love to RP like that .
