Have you read the guide stickied at the top of the forum? There is a link in there to a post about Pistol Buying, slicing and crafting.
DPS stands for "Damage Per Second" and is supposed to give you an idea of how good a gun is, but it doesn't. In fact it is so worthless that it has been redubbed "Dumb, Pointless Statistic".
I assume you have just become force sensitive, and had your first old man visit. The quest journal will be blank now. At some point in the next 2-3 days, you will be attacked by two sith (level 75 and 77). They greet you with some message about stealing the crystal. They can attack in player cities (got off a shuttle on Tatooine this week, someone was fighting the sith), and can attack you while already involved in combat (I was holding on against two random Ak(sp?) champions on Talus when they found me, once it was 3-4 on one I died fast. If you beat the two sith, then you loot a waypoint to another camp, where you have to kill three more, then loot a waypoint to the village. If the sith attack while you are in a group, DON'T LET ANY ONE ELSE LOOT THEM. That happened to a guy on dantooine, he didn't get the waypoint, had to wait for another attack.
If the sith kill you, the old man comes again. When I got killed, the old man was back the same night.
There is an excellent guide in the stickies. Oh, by the way, once you do this, you only need over 200 million weapons xp to reach jedi.

oh, and by the way again, you only need 40 mill jedi xp (equal to about 240 mill weapon xp) to complete jedi
As I am thinking of going Master AS... and I was wondring what other professions would be good..
I was suprised to see no one with scout... Arent some of the requirements for armor... hides? How do you all get them.. especially when starting out and the money is tight?
You will prolly want to consider the following:
Master Artisan: (Profit margin P/U of resource = largest on some artisan wares)
0300 Tailor: So you can make your own reinforced fiber panel, padding, synth cloth, fiber panels
0004 Merchant: So you can keep a lot of stock on your vendors and a lot of vendors in your galaxy.
Master Smug: Armorbreak slicing is extremely popular on my server at least
Hope that helps
