No, you can't travel out the system with your starter ships because they don't have hyperdrives. You need a player made ship.

Your not "stuck" with it in that paticular area, u can always have more ships, and in the beta u could destroy it. IMO Level up, make money, buy a new ship!

well i meant with that particular area...short od destorying your ship and using it elsewhere, you are sutck with that particular ship, in that particular system, until you upgrade. yes?

I never tried it, but i guess u can travel from one area to the next, just it would take a LONG time. Has anyone tried it?

Yes. Since the starter ship doesn't have a hyperdrive, you can only use it in your starting sector.
If you get a player made ship, it automatically has hyperdrive once you put a reactor and engines on it, and you can use it to "travel" directly, or "launch into space" and hyperdrive to different places.
Hopefully it won't beas tough now to find a player crafted chassis for a Z-95, light TIE, or light Scyk. Those chassis are all given at Novice Shipwright, and the SW's will most likely be grinding chassis to advance. All one really needs to do is to craft your type of starter ship as a prototype rather than doing so in practice mode.
You might be able to check the bazaars for "Ship Components" to see if some blueprints have been made, or pick up a deed ("Deeds" section) for a lower end ship that another player no longer needs.

You have reached the maximum range of your sublight engines. Turn around or engage your hyperdrive.
Something like that, anyway.

i havent tried it in beta. with the time it takes to fly across most of a system (which i did try), it would be faster to use GalTrav to the other sector and get a ship there until u can afford to buy one. after doing a novice and 1st branch boxes, u should have enuff cash and loot to almost have a decent starter ship outfitted. if not, then just hunt in the sector until u do. didnt take much time in beta. ull get dup's which u can prolly trade for stuff u do need.

I'm afraid you can't do that. The sectors are limited in size. Once you get near the perimeter, you see a system message warning you that you're near the limits of your subspace drive and to either fly closer to the interior of the sector or to engage your hyperdrive.
The only occasions where you can fly between planets with a starter ship would be if the sector has space stations for two different planets. There's one space sector that contains both Naboo and Rori, and another sector that contains Corellia and Talus. For those two occasions, you can fly Naboo to Rori, or Corellia to Talus, for example....but for all other occasions, like Naboo to Corellia, you'll need a hyperdrive or take public transportation till you can upgrade.
