Thread: Why is mastery required for Deep Space?

Just curious, why in the heck am I forced to sit through hours of mind numbing AI drones in order to fight other players? I have a 4/4/4/3 imp and 4/4/3/3 reb, both have been solod for every box. I would very much like to be able to fight (and before some idiot responds with "just declare faction" thats pointless and wont find you any fights, so dont bother) and would be more than happy to take my chance with the ships and gear currently available to me but the game wont even let me do that until Ive jumped over painfully boring and stupid hurdles. I have a deep dislike for pve and have absolutely no interest in spending hours of time I dont have (Im 37, married, 2 kids and VERY busy) to try and get a group to finally knock out the covette so I can do what I bought the game for.

I dont care at all about having a master tag over my head, or getting some stupid outfit to wear. I like games that allow me to compete against live opponents, and cant see any logical reson why I shouldnt be allowed to go into deep space at any time I choose regardless of what level my pilot is. Im not interested in exploring the galaxy, Im not interested in obtaining phat lewtz, Im not interested in holding tea parties on that utterly stupid and useless veteran "reward".

So, can anyone give me one good logical reason why mastery shoud be required for deep space?
Theyve dumbed it down now so there is no penalty at all for combat death and even without it, shouldnt I be able to decide on my own when Im ready to lock horns wihth other players?

LOL... because if they let you go to Deep Space with some friends you could level Tier 4 in a couple hours. Plus it used to be the place for just Masters to meet and fight and kessel was for everyone else to PvP in. Thenthe crybabies threw their hissy fit and teh Devs changed Kessel.

Easily explained:

Deep Space is a PVP sector.. meaning EVERY player from the opposing faction (and every neutral player to both factions) can attack you without having to challange you to a duell or switch overt like on planets.

Also Deep Space houses TEH most dangerouse NPC´s including the Star Destroyer and a Corvette and IMP and REB stations... all attackable... all "Uber" if you do not have at least lvl 7 equipment or even better lvl9 and 10.

Also Deep Space is the only playe to get LVL10 loot, wich you cannot use unless you are a Master anyway.

And that in my oppinion is sufficient reason too close this down too non Masters. Imagine a noob flying there just to see the SD or so... hell be dead in notime... and in the worst case whine his eyes out in the forums about it.

hope that i was able to help ya

@kalaf only if he had tier4 pilots with him downing the targets he would. on his own or a group of tier1 or 2 noobz would not stand a chance.

and btw its GOOD they took PVP out of kessel. I never offended anyone and some f00lz downed me in kessel without reason and never even replied to tells. and That is ULTRA lame...

I have no problem dying in a fight.. but NOT if there was no reason for it! Especially since im neither imp nor rebel.

They should enhance the spawnz in kessel though.... not enough NPC´s lately.

You can get L10 loot from Kessel too.

You can get L10 loot from T4 duty missions, it's just interspersed with a bunch of low-and-mid-level stuff.

Well, I understand that it could be difficult but from all I can see the high level loot is far too heavy to use in a fighter anyhow, I mean how can I use a 25K mass part in my 65K TIE advanced or A wing? Seems to me most players in any fighter are going to be limited to level 5-7 gear at best anyhow, and this is currently within my reach as I can use through level 8. Sure, the huge ships can equip that gear but they have to be able to hit me to kill me.

Fast kills dont bother me a bit, I played Microsoft WWII flight sims extensively and Im quite used to be quick or be dead. I really doubt that my SWG fighters would explode any faster than the Zeros I loved flying so much, heck that plane would explode in a fireball if a kid hit it with a slingshot. Two or three .50 cal bullet holes in one wing are enough to ruin its maneuverability entirely, and a well placed 2-3 second burst will destroy any single engine fighter so I think I can handle that. If you think your spaceships blow up fast, try a real flight sim, I cant see how it could possibly be any faster.

I dunno, I guess i just think that it should be up to the player to decide. If a new player wants to go explore Deep Space with the realization that they could become a snack in a couple seconds, thats their choice. I dont think it helps anyone to have a (to my mind) somewhat arbitrary standard to enter a pvp zone, the ability to complete a pve mission does not really have any correlation at all to ones ability to handle combat against live targets. I suppose that SOE has to program their game under the assumption that most players dont have the same amount of cockpit experience that a flight sim player does, but I think the option should be there.

From the posts Im seeing the Deep Space zone isnt exactly heavily populated, and if Im willing to offer myself as a potential target to those that have completed the entire tree, why not?

Oh and thanks to the player with the corvette comment, it gives me hope as my patience with this system is on its last legs.

Donnershlag, you are absolutely correct about the level 5-7 parts in a fighter. Imperial Master gives you a real nice bomber, a flying house, a bigger computer, and a heavier bomberstrike. These are nice, but don't really do much to improve your tier four fighter.

Bet you can enter the deep space zones now using the Dath entry. There are 2 entry points that I know of, 1 is for imperials only and the one in Dath anyone can use.

The third one, for the Rebels entry, is in Dantooine space. The one in Dathomir is for neutrals.

Am I right about the no qualification needed part? I am beyond being able to find out for myself as I'm 4444 and only found out about deep space because I got the kill 30 rebels in Kessle so I knew I was able to enter. I spent over 2 hours trying to find out where the place was the search feature of this message board blows.

Because it is filled with high level mobs. It was meant to be the master PVP zone, and Kessel the non-master zone. Since the master mission occupies Kessel, there was some issues with the players who dont want to fight anyone, and feel that they were being griefed.

I believe that the devs are moving the master mission, and will return Kessel to its non-master PVP state.

Wrong. You can get lvl 10 loot from almost any ship you kill. I have looted lvl 10 stuff off tier 2 and 3 npcs.

Simply put, Master level pilots need to have a challaging place go that will contiune there gaming experiance. If Deep Space

where open to every player, a few level 1 folks could gang up on an ACE and keep them busy for a while whall some tier 3 player picks at him with a hit and run attack.

Keeping deep space for Ace's is the way to go. There has to be an "end game" that it repeatable and is just as fun a year from now. Deep space privides that. It puts folks on equal ground and stops the players that would use swam tactics instead of pilot skills to win a battle.
