I think my TIE Bomber would look kind of silly with her name (Ghost of a Rose) written down the side of her wing thingies.

The pilot's name is only the first thing you see if they haven't bothered to name their ship. Which is, unfortunately, much more common that I like. But given the uncreativity people have displayed with their character names, perhaps this is for the best.

true, but i think when we target a player ship we should not see the pilot/owner name at all (unless you /examine). a ship should be known by its name only, not by the name of its captain.

I miss my level 148 Progen warrior on pegasus. /cry.

Got to love progen ships in that game, for the uninitiated, try picturing an Xwing with 6 projectile weapons strapped to its wings, each gun shoots out 6 rounds per shot, each shot is like 1 or 2 seconds apart. Ohhh the spam was wonderful, intrestingly enoguh, you had cargo holds in taht game, but a progen ships cargo hold was really more of an ammo storage compartment. (yes, you had ammo you had to load).

6 shots per gun, per second, 18 shots a second..... oh it was wonderful.. i ddint mind erloading in the least. THen there were guns that shot 9 rounds per shot......

I miss Earth& Beyond. I loved that game.
I was one of those guys who could make worm holes and such... I can't remember what they were called. They were awasome.

Where abouts on your ship do you plan on putting the name? There are very few craft that actually have obvious places to put the name. Plus, there's no evidence anywhere in Star Wars that they put names on anything. If there was, we'd have seen names on Star Destroyers. Your ship transmits an IFF signal, that registers the name with other people's computers. You don't *need* the name on the hull.


I do agree about not showing the Captain/Pilot's name though...at least, not over the ship's name. If the ship is un-named, it gets called "A Z-95 Headhunter", or "A Rebel X-Wing", or whatever, with something like (Player) at the end, as opposed to the Tier.

Most people don't name ships, because in canon, fighters were very rarely named. People'll only name them for special reasons, like if its a personal courier. The rest of the time, they'll either not bother, or go with a callsign.
