I am flying a dunelizard. Cost of chassis 35000. Cost of equipment 1000000 It has a mass of 68910, reator at 11432, shiields- front 521, back - 491,Cap is at 904, armor front 189 HP 208.3, armor rear 281 HP 417, weapon 1 Dam 251-316 E/S 20, waepon 2 Dam 778-101 E/S30, Proton missiles Min dam 602 max dam 1168 (Can not find any other missile launches that I can afford.)

Almost all of the items are lvl 3 or 4 and I have failed this mission10 time as of this writing. Total cost in repairs 31730 credits. Total looted credit 153. Total points needed to get second lvl 2 skill 60000. Total points earned in the 10 failed missions 4300. At this rate my ship will be totally trashed and I will still be trying to complete this mission and still have only one lvl 2 pilot skill.

Problem 1: With the crappy copper available in-game from mining no one on the Intrepid server can build a decent high energy capacitor.

Problem 2: Finding, let alone being able to affordreactors at lvl 3 to 5 above the 11432 energy level I have now.

Problem 3: Finding, let alone being able to afford weapons with high damage (900+)and an E/S less then 20.

Problem 4: This damn mission! Sending freelance pilots from Tatooine to Yavinon a TIER 2 mission to kill the BlackSun Ace and his 3 wingmen who are all TIER 3 is from my point of view impossible. Their ships are faster than mine. Their weapons never run out of energy (while my capacitor is drained trying to kill the first targeted ship, and my missiles are gone as well!) I amfor the most part, a solo player. I do not want to join a guild or a player city (taxes are a pain in the butt in real life, I don't need to be taxed while trying to have fun.) Having TIER 2 mission that are next to impossible for solo player to complete makes no sense. Having to spend an entire day or more grinding out low paying ground missions to pay for a few hours of space missions sucks, and does not lead to renewal of accounts when they run out.

I'm sure someone will reply to this post say something along the lines of "This is a MMPOG, if you want to go solo play something else" My response to that will not get past the forum language filters.

To fail a mission once or twice is part of the game, but when you fail 10 times in a row it is a badly designed mission and need to be corrected, or people will be leaving SWG/JTL for Halo 2 or other games faster then womp rats leaving a dying ship.

What's an MMPOG?

Anyway - If you can't handle the completely valid response of:

"When you can't get through something solo, then you need to group up with someone to help you" then i dont know what to tell you. You obviously can't finish this mission solo (even though i'm 100% sure that people on your server have completed it), and you refuse to group.

How does this become our problem? Many of us have had to group up to finish a mission, and you should get used to it early, because i can promise you that if you're having problems with a t2 mission, you're in for a real fun time with the t 3, 4, and 5 missions where you're pretty much required to group.

Man, I feel your pain. The first tier 2 mission I took was kill a bunch of black suns at Yavin. ARRRGGGHH, what a pain, and it went on forever. Not only that the tier 3 ships baked my arse every time. So, I hooked up with a bud and got through after spending 45 minutes fighting wave after wave of the boogers.

Now for the Black Sun Ace mission, honestly you have a better load out on your ship then I do. You even have a better weapons capacitor (mine maxes out around 800). I too have a dune lizard and did upgrade it once I opened up the ship component use box and could be certified in level 4 & 5 stuff.

I honestly don't know why your struggling because with a slightly weaker load out then what you have, I felt the black sun ace mission was vastly easier then the endless waves of black suns on the first one I took especially when you went up against the tier 3 waves.

I was able to solo the black sun ace mission last night on the first try. The tactics I used were fairly straightforward. Speed up to their location get behind, try to kill one first outright, then proceed to disable the next one then destroy the last one still flying, then come back and kill the disabled one at your leisure. BTW I have no missiles, but 1 level 3 blaster cannon max dmg around 900 and 1 level 3 laser cannon, hits at 60% for both armor and shields and max damage around 1100.

Hope this helps. Double check some of your ship components not really sure I understand how to read everything but maybe some of your equipments condition is wearing down. Good luck!

One thing that has held true for me this far when it comes to ship parts: Looted items are better than created ones, and not only because they're free, I have yet to buy a single part for any ship. I remember the mission it was one I took on myself and beat, while some others I've had a friend help.

What differs in your Dunelizard and mine is that my shields were about 50% better than yours, the armors about 100% better, and equally so the first weapon. This is no attempt at bragging, just a comparison so you know what it took for me to do the mission.

My suggestion is to go through the bazaars various ship components, especially those I mention above because it will be cheaper. It sounds like you've been unlucky when it comes to loot (or maybe I've been lucky).

You should have taken your starter ship and blasted away at the easy Tier 1 targets until you looted some decent equipment. I never paid a single credit for my equipment (apart for my Dunelizard chassis, one shield and some donations to shipwrights who REd a few of my loots), and it's a really good method of outfitting your first 'real' ship if you're not really the richest person.

I'm now at Privateer 3-3-3-3, grinding my first million in the same Dunelizard, and, if anything, the missions up until now were way too easy. I have never played any of the Star Wars flight sims apart from the Rogue Squadron 2 on Gamecube (which is more of an arcade game than a flight sim) for more than half an hour because, quite frankly, I'm really bad at them, and was extremely frustrated with all of them. Now I am actually looking forward to 'hard' missions at 4-4-4-4 (if they even exist) so I can find myself a few wingmen to do the Master Pilot mission with later on.

I am very puzzled whenever I see someone post the familiar 'missions are too hard, make them easier' issue, because, as I've said, I've done a really terrible job at every other Star Wars flight sim there was, and, well, I've done each Privateer mission until now (apart from the one where you had to wait for the Witchblood clan Soldier spawn with the right data, where I got bored after half an hour of the right spawn not spawning and went to sleep ) from the first try.

I have to agree with riotcontrol on this one, although I have played all the other XW/TF games. I'm no hotshot but I didn't really have much of a problem with my Dunelizard on the first tier 2 mission. In fact, I've not had a huge problem at all except for when I got jumped by tier 4 fighters in my starter scyk after an ill-advised jump to Dantooine space.

You can loot quite decent gear if you're lucky and you can find some people selling good stuff at fairly reasonable prices if you take the time to look around.

One thing that I can say is different about my set up is that I don't have a missile launcher and up until recently, didn't get a countermeasure launcher either. I certainly haven't installed a droid. Save the mass and the energy for shields, armour and guns. And remember you can install two weapons on your dunelizard. You may also be able to ask other pilots around the starport if they've got any loot they no longer need after they've upgraded that you can buy from them. You never know - they might just give it to you to help out.

Are you an RSF-Pilot?

Try the Smugglers-Alliance tree, my friend!

There are 3 difficult levels at every faction!

The hardest Privateer Is the Tatooine one....

So don't cry out loud, when you only know a bit....

well i went thru all that also and it can be a pain. your equipment is substandard.
the hardest place to be as a young pilot is 1 1 1 1 grinding out that first deuce block.
(1 2 1 1 of course, privateer).
i solo everything and that is the hardest grind in there.
YOU NEED BETTER EQUIPMENT.
i make mark 2 reactors that put out 12959.3 using the overcharger subcomponents.
now i have all 7 special metals (some are just plain crappy but they are brand new spawns)
and i make all components with the subcomponents installed.
here is your ideal energy budget for a mark 2 ship. (energy is the ONLY issue for privateer at this level)

Mark 2 Reactor puts out 12959.3
Mark 2 Engine uses 2012.7 and drives pitch and yaw 50.2 roll(way less important) 43.9 and speed 62.9
Mark 2 Booster uses 603.4 and has 900 energy forgot the rest of the specs
Mark 2 Shield uses 2707.8 (not in game now so dont have performance on most of this)
Mark 2 Capacitor uses 1300.0
NO DROID INTERFACE
Proton 2 launcher uses 962.7
Sensor uses 962.3
Mark 2 Ion Cannon OPTIMIZED for shields uses 2191.8 shoots 620 to 890 damage.
Mark 2 Disruptor OPTIMIZED for armor uses 2191.8 shoots 620 to 890 damage.
Mark 2 Armor had hardening subcomponent and uses no energy.
Total energy useage is 12932.5 with mass useage 28012

now i have made a BUNCH of these sets and they work well. i have soloed the destroy missions that wind up with 5 tier 3 ace ships so that ace mission is a piece of cake.
that mission that you can quit after the first wave gives you around 25 waves total with an ace waypoint after 2 tier 2 ship waypoints. the first wave has one ace, the second has 2 aces and so on. if you stick with it you will end it with a wave of 5 aces and 5000 credits for finishing the mission in space. also get 55k xp too.

now thats a toughie at 1 1 1 1 but you can run it half way to 3 aces each time if you want.
i have not mentioned any LOOTED components as SOME of them get way better if you find them.
MY NUMBERS ARE A BASELINE for your level and i am raising up 6 pilots.

now once you get to 1 2 1 1 you should get mark 3 components and the reactor i make at mark 3 puts out 14216.8
mass becomes a small issue here as the final loadout uses 68963 mass, BUT YOU KICK BIG TIME ASS on tier 3 ships and BLOW OUT OF THE SKY those tier 2 ships.
i can do a full waveset destroy mission at 1 2 1 1 with no damage to armor at all.
i make the same type of components at mark 3 only they are tougher.
the guns shoot 1200 to 1500 damage. some looted stuff is better. look for it.
FIND A BETTER SHIPWRIGHT AND SPECIFY TO HIM these numbers. they are doable with standard metals and a full set of the 7 special metals needed to make the subcomponent enhancers.

oh yeah, have a macro that takes you to half speed and full speed. your BEST turning speed is half speed and you need full speed to run them down and get extra hits on their tails before they turn again. use the /throttle 1.00 /throttle 0.50 commands in macros and USE THEM.
i have a macro that simply does /throttle 0.50; /pause 5; /throttle 1.00;
thats it, its for the head to head chicken pass. you hit it before they pass and you turn fast and are back up to full speed quickly. those mark 3 guns will blow up a tier 2 and half damage another one before they pass you the first time.

Nope, I'm a 'Hutt-factioned' Privateer, working for Talon and Jabba in the Smugglers Alliance - it was the best possible choice for my Bounty Hunter character from a RP standpoint.

It's not that hard really. I'm not using any missles, countermeasures, or a booster (tho that's because the booster hot-key just stopped working for me no matter where I map it). Ignore what the other guy said - get a flight computer and some chips. Then ask an Imperial to make the engine overload and weapons overload programs for you and make yourself a reactor overload program (unless you can find a higher-level neutral to do it for you).

Those programs can work wonders for you. My Dunelizard's speed increases by over 100 when I'm running the program, and my shots, while they drain the capacitor quickly, do a ton of damage so it only takes a few shots. If you can get the weapons tuning program (Imps again) to work - level 2 did not work for me - it should greatly reduce your capacitor's drain per shot, though your damage will be less.

Just make sure you run the Reactor Overload program first - it will boost your reactor's output enough to cover the additional drain from boosting your engines and weapons.

If you really drain your capacitor just trying to take out the first guy, you might want to consider only firing one weapon at a time instead of both (either linked or chained). Another suggestion is to target their reactors first. They are a lot less dangerous when they can't fly or shoot... and it gives you time to recharge. And like someone else said, use looted parts. Ifound two reactors in the last week with over 12000 output (a level3 and a level 5) and so many capacitors (levels 2-5) with a recharge over 30 that I lost count.

So you think the tatooine-tree is not hard enough? Maybe you have a very good ship, very good stuff or you are an average pilot yourself. (Maybe you have a very good internet-conection also - and a good framerate?)

I myself have succeded in comin' to 3332, but the last mission I wasn't able to solo. With the help of a friend it was ok then.

But if you really have solo'd it all congrats. You had luck that you had no problems with some missions, who look bugged for some players too....

But I'm shure you will not be able to solo the tier 4 missions at all.....

I don't understand why this is such a problem; I'm a decent pilot, but I'm no uber-ace or anything and I soloed this one with no problem at all. I was using a dunelizard with pretty nearly the same components as you list at the time, but my capacitor was about 849, I think. Got a lucky loot drop.

I also had no troubles with the first one mentioned, but: They have changed the AI or better said the SPEED, and maybe that is the point here.......

In BETA there was no chance to win in space with the enemies like they are now.
