What's wrong with this mission? It took me an hour and a half to do it and it was insanely difficult, had to bail out on the last bunch as all of my components were shot to pieces.

Next time around It was ten times as hard as it was before. Every fighter I encountered unleashed it's missiles on me and yet I hung in there and the first of those 3 aces came along with his fighter escort. I shot all his buddies to pieces and he fled and I lost the mission.

Now I've tried to find people to bring along with me to make things easier but nobody wan'ts to come. I've even tried paying people but nobody's interested. Does anyone have any advice on how to finish this mission?

I can't really remember much about that mission... Although I did it the second time through on my own. I didn't really find any problems with it, I'd just make sure you've got the best equipment you can have in your ship, I find it makes a huge difference in your killin power

If that's the mission I'm thinking of, I just soloed it. The first mission after you get to 2222, right? I had to go to Yavin, find a freighter, disable it and destroy its escorts, then escort it out. You fight off wave after wave of Valarians in Kimogila bombers, then have to deal with three waves of Valarians focused only on you.

I'd recommend getting a different ship. I took my pre-patch Dunelizard (dunno if mass went up or not, I've never come close to maxing my mass) with a 11.9K reactor, a looted 900 pt shield and about 500pt armor, with Tier-1 missiles and a 849 pt capacitor, 514 max speed and 900-1200 damage weapons, pretty much owned the mission. The only reason I didn't succeed on my first attempt was because the fourth wave of targets hypered out of zone before I could get close enough. I've never flown a Kimogila, but I don't think it's nimble enough for the mission if you don't have screeners.

You might be right there. The kimo doesn't handle that great. Come to think of it I was faring much better when I flew the dunelizard. Maybe it's time to warm up the ol' bird and see how she handles against these buggers.

Thanks for the advice

The Dunelizzy is way better then the Kimo, but look at a shipwrights shop if you get a new one with higher mass.....

And don't forget:

They changed the AI or only the speed, whatever.......

I remember in BETA with THIS AI it was so bad out there in space, and SO difficult, that nobody had a chance to level up, 'till they changed it again, so my advise would be:

Wait 'till they change the AI back, and /bug the mission! (The NPC-ships are not intended to shoot missiles so quick, this is a bug we had in BETA too. I hope it is not back......)

Here is how to do it. Use your Kimo. It is my preferred ship, smart throttle control makes it a beautiful machine. You might want to get a new one with the added mass (now at 110k).

Don't worry about killing any of the ships right away. Disable their engines and forget about them, you MUST do it quickly but target the engines subsystem and pour into them. Once the freighter is away, kill the disabled ships that are still there until the first wave of assassins show. Target your tier 4 ship and disable it the same way as above. Then take out it's escorts (I'd disable one and then kill the other) then kill your assassin. The final wave is a trap that you have to be ready for. It will spawn two tier 3 escorts and 1 tier 1 syck. DON"T KILL THE SYCK UNTIL THE ESCORTS ARE GONE! Once you kill the Syck you get two tier 4 X-Wings thrown at you. They are harder to hit than anything else you've come up against thus far. You have to target the engines to do it in a Kimo. Once you take them out you can head back to Jabba's and get your reward (take training in x3xx first, in case you didn't know).

Never forget how important and helpful disabling a ship can be, it is the BEST way to safely complete missions of any kind.

It is a painful mission. The first time I did it, I figured I was near the end but had to bail out after an hour of play because my girlfriend came over with her family. The next day I ave it another go and completed it... but it took nearly twice as long as what I'd already done. I wasn't in terrible shape by the end and I have a Khiraxz light fighter with only one weapon. The best way to go about it, I found, was to go for disables ONLY. No blowing up ships as it takes too long. That way you can completely disable one wave of fighters before the next wave hyperspace in. After the freighter jumps you'll have to wipe out yet more fighters and deal with one pesky Valarian X-Wing. The X-Wing is a jouster, but fortunately he flies too fast for his own good so he won't be hitting you at least as much as you won't be hitting him. Andother disable is the easiest way to take him down. Once he's dead in the water, blast him and go home.

The next Jabba mission is where I'm stuck. I fear I'm going to need at least two other ships to help me. The first few sections are easy, but by the time I made it to the burial ground I was facing abuot 16 fighters by myself. I hyperspaced out of the sector after getting chewed to bits and was amazed to find that every single component on my ship had been obliterated except my engines and my reactor which were both at 4%.

You're going to need a different ship for the second mission, man. Two weapons = Twice the damage. Group your weapons (use the G key and put both projectiles into group 1) make sure your main fire key (L mouse button or Joystick trigger) is keyed to Weapons Group 1. Make sure you have a good Capacitor, shieldsand armor.

I managed to solo all of Tier 3 without dying once (I failed the first mission once because I had to leave the sectorand go night night ). The BEST method is to disable the ships before you destroy them. Take your time, don't rush, don't panic. Loosen you grip on you stick, you won't overcompesate as much this way when trying to line a bead on them. Load up wth Mark II or III concussion missiles and use them conservatively. The worst part of this mission is the extra bogeys that keep harrassing you.

I truly can't say it enough. Disable. Disable. Disable.

if its the first mission in jabbas palace, i soloed that fine. On the escort part, i disabled the ships and only like 3 waves came before i finished, that tier4 a-wing with the AI jousting was a pain.

[EDIT] oh, and i tried the 2nd mission, would've finished it, but i got too far away from the spot i was supposed to be at. I was going to try to let an tier4 decimator help me out, and it was too far away

If you can't find people to come along... well, I don't mean this to be harsh, but get some friends.

No wait, something more constructive! Use the search feature, search for other pilots, and just ask if they have the time to fly with you. The mission goesa bit quicker with a wingmate.

I tried 4 times, and like you, always failed on the last wave of fighters (since they were tier 4's and ripped me up at the time). 5th time, I had a friend in an X-wing covering me. =)

And just advance warning: pretty much needed a wingmate for the next few missions, too.

The mission is the one where you have to disable a freighter full of weapons and escort it out of the system after you've seized it. A bunch of tier 3 valarians attack you whilst you're escorting it. After the freighter leaves you get three waves of valarian assassins. All are tier three except there's one tier 4 in each wave.

I have all the best equipment installed in my Kimogila but that doesn't seem to make a difference when I get an average of 1 missile fired at me every 15-20 seconds. I'm all out of countermeasures and by the time the first wave of assasins are done and if I save my missiles then the assassins just high tail out of there before I get a chance to kill them. If I do waste my missiles on them then I'm all out by the time the last group arrives and they kick my butt.

Then I guess I'm in trouble since I don't play on the usual peak hours and all but a couple of my friends have left the game and the two that remain are hardly ever on and don't enjoy JTL.

This is why I hate forced grouping. Grouping is fine but when you're forced to do it then I dislike it.
