Is it so hard to have NPC ships use the same rules as player ones? Having them 3x faster and take more hits does NOT = smart AI
Ithink anyone whos tried to kill a tier 5 droid fighter or A-wing knows what I mean, by the time you turn round to shoot at it, its already out of range and already coming back at you for another head on collision.

They aren't 3X faster, that's a gross exageration. I can trail TIE Interceptors and Advanceds in my Longprobe. You just have to re-learn how to turn and how to use boosted rolls. By the way. thanks for making a new thread on this topic. I haven't seen it anywhere on the JtL or Pilot boards since 11.2 went live.

Eventually kill them yea, but why do ships of the same type as your flying have to beso muchfaster when the AI flys them? The A-wing is supposed to be the fastest, but gets outrun by an AI tie agressor and tier 5 Z-95s (which are one of the slowest ships for players), but a player flying a tie agressor can no way catch a player A-wing. It can never be balanced when the NPC and player ships work under different systems :/

You mean an AI that can handle changing conditions, think tactically and strategically, understand how to use all the different combinations and adjust to constantly changing tactics by real live human beings?
If so then you are proposing Sony hire thousands of real live human beings to fly all the NPC ships. AI will never be as good a real people so the only way to give them a chance is "cheating"

Because they know how to use the Engine Overload droid program and you don't.

I think the problem with the AI is they ALL do the same thing and the really fast ships flying away and coming back gets really boring fast. i get more fun out of blowing up gunboats and the odd decimator.

The components on the AI ships (with the notable exception of weapons) tend to be far superior to player ships. In that regard, they're a lot like those Mokks or Jantas on Dantooine. Sure, they look humanoid, but they've got 10K HAM.

Yeah, I never understood the 10k caveman with higher resists than my armor...oh well, I figure the combat revamp will adjust that.
On topic:
Adjust your flight tactics. You don't need to always be the fastest to win. If the AI is doing nothing but straight-line attacks with long extensions, anticipate him. Turn early, roll into him, hit your boosters and enjoy a nice long firing solution on his tail....
