Same joystick here. Ithad no tension at all when I started up the live game today. (It worked fine in beta btw) So I installed the sidewinder software since I was relying on the default xp drivers to that point. (again which worked in beta) Then it went super strong tension and I couldn't even center the stick with out fighting it.
Finally I got it back to working condition by unplugging the usb connection, and unloading the sidewinder software. Then reloading the software and plugging in the stick at the very end. Then it went back to normal. Good tension and cool force feedback in game. It's very enjoyable now, but I had a few hours of worry, fiddling with various configs atfirst.
Hope this helps.

Does your joystick jump when you have acollision in space? My whole desk shakes when it happens.

It definately forces some feedback. My girlfriend playing at the desk next to mine is spooked by how much it shakes when I get hit(blaster or ship-to-ship). I think it's pretty good. It may be able to be toned down a bit, but I'm happy where it is now.

I have an Evo Force Feedback, with the same issue. I turned the respnose all the way down and my whole desk still shakes when I get hit.

My sidewinder 2 ffb is is working pretty good, and I'm using whatever drivers are in xp. I lost my sidewinder cd's a long time ago.

I have the same joystick, but it re-centers ok, just that the force is too strong.

HAve you intalled your drivers?
Go to controll panel, game controllers and try that route.

I also have the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 joystick. When I used it the night before the last day of beta, I had unusually strong "feedback" responses, which boardered on excessive for the game. I didn't get a chance to try disabling this in the joystick profile (driver software), but there needs to be an in-game option to turn this off. Hopefully my JTL was delivered tonight and I'll see if I can get around the excessive response via the driver controls.
