Thread: NEW IDEA: Space Stations: Be able to walk around in them and more!

Well I am not sure if someone has already come up with this idea, but I think it would be a great (hopefully simple to implement) idea to add to JTL content:


Imagine having another option when you communicate to a space station to actually dock with it. This new 'dock' option would transport you inside the space station itselfstraight into a hanger bay, similar to the ground starports.In this hanger bay there would be a Travel Terminals allowing you to automatically shuttle to the planet (Like an escape pod)which the station is orbiting or take off with your ship, which would transport you outside the station. Only planets with player cities would be usuable stations. - Naboo, Corellia, Dantooine, Talus, Rori.


The Space Station would act like being on a multipassenger ship, so you could actually see outside the station through windows, and see other ships flying by etc.The Station itself would be fairly big inside, with lifts and several rooms/open areas to walk around in matching the actualy shape of the station itself. Each station would be unique for the planet whichit is orbiting. This would make each station be fun to dockwithand not just be the same boring interior in each one.



For actual content on the stations you could add the following things:


A Cantina - For the musicians/dancers/entertainers who want to have a change of scenery form the normal planet cantinas. Could be a totally different style of cantina with new furniture.




Bank/Terminals - Obivously if a bank terminal was included then it would be limited to the planet. As in the Naboo Station would have a Naboo bank terminal. Also mission terminals, like space destroy/escort etc. - A chance to add in more JTL loot? The missions would be similar to ones that you can get from the your quest trainers.




Special NPC's - Junk dealers/chassis dealers/trainers/More quest npc's. The station could be a hive of npc's to do with JTL. Also a place where players can come to meet, trade and hang out. Having useful npc's is key for getting people to come back and visit the space stations.


Factional - Factional npc's couldberunning/walking/standing around depending on the control over the planet below. Even recruiters where the station canact as asafe place to go overt and launch attacks on the planet below. Maybe stop SF opposing faction from docking?


Pirate Smuggler - Could almost be like a space component slicer, where you would give him one of your components (for a fee of course)and it would have a chance ofoneof the stats increasing. Once 'sliced' the component will not be able to be sliced again. Maybe you could limit this to certain components and the stat changes could depend on the level of the component. The slices should be totally random.


Asteroid Dealers - These could sell/buy asteroid resources.




Station Events - A certain times the station could come under attack by opposing faction force's (GCW content) or just bandits. The Station could have a lot of turrets for people to man. Would be some fun diverse content for players. Can gain credits, loot or faction pointsfrom destroyed ships. This could happen at random times, so to stop people from hogging the turrets all the time. Maybe have 10-15 turrets/guns. The outcome of the attacks would not affect the station itself.




Layout - A main hanger bay, leading onto a hallway with several rooms where npc's will be hanging around. At the end of the hallway there would be a large open area with more npc's and places to sit, much like the interior of a ground spaceport. Could have several corridors leading off, one to a cantina, 2 more could lead to corridors with mannable turrets. There would also be a large room which is the control station, where the npc who runs the space station could be, can get all the same quests/repairs that you can from communicating with him from your ship outside.




This would be a very cool and hopefully simple thing to implement into the game and enable more diversity to JTL content. As yuou can see I am clutching at straws for ideas and knocked this together as a framework.


I am sure there are several other ideas that people can come up with and I will update this post with them. Everything here is debatable of course I am just throwing ideas at the community

Yup. Idea has been posted, but still VERY good.


The Cap Ship thing off someone's desk gives a faint light at the end of a looooonnnngggg tunnel that they are looking into a serious space expansion.

I would seriously love to see something like this. This would be perfect for a new expansion pack (along with a new planet, of course ).

Actually, even if they do not bring a new planet into play, having one or two space stations per sector with quests within themwould be pretty sweet.


Although an entirely NEW sector with planet would be nice.

Yes, I have seen this kind of ideas posted before and I still think it is a VERY GOOD idea and I hope we will see something like this in future.


personally I would like to see a Neutral Space Station and for Rebels and Imperials the option to board one of their large Cruisers. I would really love to be able to walk on board of an ISD. This is so missing in the game at the moment.

I would love to see this ingame,it would also give us pilots a place to go besides the ground.If that was put in the game then you could really live in space lol

i support this idea! Would love for space stations to be more interactive in this manner. this is also a good opportunity to add content to the game with npcs and quests specific to the station. How about a Kessel run quest where you would have to hop system to system and finally through kessel?

could have high end or just complex missions that you get a deed to rent a aparment on station and have stations tier based, ie tat you evicted once make tier 3.


yet dath be up to tier 4


and ace's could live on reb or imp stations depending on faction, those that free in space and ground could live on the stations you sell ore to.


and a dead or lease would have a expiry date when it expires you have so long to earn it back, if you fail you have 3 days to clear apartment or stuff deletes or goes in storage till you pick it up and mission goe's for new tenant, and a person cant be on same station for more than two rental contracts in a row, give every one chance to live on a station.


and if one or two secotors have moncal, or isd that be alot of apartments.


and if you live on a war ship or a factional station you must do atleast 2-3 space missions a week to keep lease.


habitabal ships, couldnt be destroyed but can be attack and those on ship durring attack risk dieing when systems blow

Old, not going to happen, but still hoping!

It's a fantastic idea and a concept not hard to grasp. If they wanted to, they could get rid of the dead horse and give us shiney new space station interiors!



Visit my Vendors on Rori right outside of Restuss!! They're located at 6004, 5843! (I think..I hope)
