Thread: Resources
My Plan:
Get a basic start in marksmen. And then start up in medic eventually going for a rifleman/combat medic. That doesn't leave me 15 points for artisan which is suggested for gathering resources. Is there another way besides artisan to get resources besides buying them?
The only ways to get resources is to either buy them from people that harvest them or harvest them yourself.
1) Scouts: harvest meat/bone/hide and can forage for food and drinks.
2) Artisan: can survey and forage for anything you want.
3) Medic: gets a useless medical forage skill
What I did (and a lot of other medics) is get novice artisan for the survey skill. Buy survey tools (all of them) and survey the heck out of it. I'm about to hit Survey IV and I'm really glad I took this skill tree. At a good spot I can harvest over 1k in resources within an hour. And if I want to I can set up harvesters (everyone can do that, it doesn't require any specific skills) that do the work for me while I'm working on patients.
Harvesters are expensive to maintain, so a pool of people sharing a set of harvesters might be a very good option for medics and doctors.
But take my word for it, surveying is very beneficial for a medic. You get resources for free and lots of them. It just takes time to get them.
Good luck!

You may want to give the rifle combat medic combo some more thought, it may work for you but I think it will be difficult.
Rifle: best at 60m from target, almost useless in close combat.
Combat Medic: need to be close to target to heal those getting damaged.
If you want to me a rifleman go for Master Doctor as well so you can go in close after the fight is over and resurrect all the tanks ![]()
A way I would do this is
Get artisan and sample for resources, buy harvesters, place harvesters, forget artisan when you need the skills points but make sore you have an artisan friend who can help you move the harvesters when resource locations shift around.
When you get to really high-lvl meds you wont be able to get all your resources this way but you can always sell or trade excess resources.
Get the scouts in your hunting parties to pay you in hides or bone, sell the to architects (for furniture) and armorsmiths and use the cash to buy resources.
I'm a little confused about resources...Mainly, how do I find ones that aren't in my surveying tool? Like I see that I need steel, but it isn't an option to suvey for in my mineral surveying device. So do I need a better tool? Or do I need to put down a harvester first or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Not every planet has every resource. There's no Copper on Corellia, but there is on Talus. That's just the way it works.
I think that's intended to force players to hunt the entire galaxy for the best resources to put stuff together with. The best aluminum may be on Corellia, while the best Gems are found on Naboo or something. You can't make the absolute best things without a little creative planet hopping, or some very enterprising merchants.
What are the resources need to build a large house? And roughly how much of each resource is needed?
Thanks.
Sorry if this one has already been answered a thousand times, but when i open my survey tool and it lists all my resources down the side, for instance im on Naboo at the mo and the fibreplast's listed are Ichrass and odovo ( or something like that). Now are they the only 2 types on the planet until the next resource spawn, or if i traveled to say the other side of the planet would i get some differing types ?
Thanks in advance

Fiberplast is usually local to that planet so each planet has it's own type of fiberplast if they have it at all. I haven't checked all the planets buta great majority of them have their own fiberplast.
