Thread: Is this normal?
I'm not sure if this is right or not, but when I got Novice, I went to Tat and got a CuPa. I have hunted quite a bit with him almost to full size now.
I then got a beetle and proceded to hit some dune banthas. Well after the first kill, I didnt get any CH xp. This is the case with all my other pets I've got after the CuPa. When fighting, all of them just give 1 CH xp after the fight, but the CuPa varies, from 300 some odd for good creatures to 91 or so for blue con human mobs.
Is this normal or a known bug?
It is the design of the proffesion, big pets = very little XP
Smaller pets = more xp
It has to do with the level of the pet you are using and the level of hte mob you are fighting. This is a COMMON missconception about our proffesion, that big pets helps us with XP.
yes you need tiny pets to get big exp. i use a kaadu in Moeina and get 78-91 exp a mob in the newbie areas. I am not some Rancor weilding Powergamer like most post claim that we all are, but i do have a dew and he kills things for....let the suspsense build........so ppl will know we are the ultra class in the game.....that we only take 60 seconds to master our profession.....that BHs want to be us.....One WHole Point of CH. AT that level of power mongering it force me to kill like some 12039705932034708293 mobs just to get to Management 3. So use some weak little pets and fight things that you can fight along side of it to even out the damage dealt to you between them. I also highly recommend using a very weak cdf pistol or rifle. The more powerful you are compared to the mob will also cut into your CH exp. i did a test on this theory. KAadu and Scout pistol generated an average of 19 CH exp, still beats the Dew back. But when i dropped down to the crap cdf pistol it went up to 78. And this was off Spinecrappers, Fleshing chuba and diseased nuna. You can use a kaadu and a sscout pistol on Flewts and Rawls and night spiders for 78. just have to tweak what you use as a weapon and a pet to max out your skill exp per kill.
What some ppl dont understand is that we handle creatures. We put them to great use. But our skill is best used when we can handle and know how to use a lower level creature to advance us. It takes a brainless BH to weild a huge Rancor to kill things in the newbie zones.
one other thing take your pet into town, it is your choice. Be nice in the cantina with them, but never let a person tell you you cant take it into the hospital, pets need healing too.
ahh, Ok that makes sense. I didnt even think that the other pets I got were red con to me full grown, while the cupa is white con.
Then I'll save those other pets for the harder creatures.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Hahah, this is just unbelievable. So let me summarize what you just said:
"I came across a battle, so I ran up to an Imperial and murdered him. Then I noticed another Imperial shooting at me, so I sent my pets to tear him apart. They did, and I sent him back to the Cloning Facility. The second Imperial got the jump on me, but before I pwned him too, he actually did some major damage while sniping me. WTH is that? A Sniper can ALMOST incapacitate me by shooting me through the HEAD, before I summarily sick my pets on him and rip him to shreds? How overpowered is that? Nerf him please! Next time he should do maybe 50 or 60 damage when he gets the jump on me, before I react, send my pets after him and roxxor him majorly. A character that gets the first strike can actually do damage before I murder him! OMG! NERFHIM4TEHWINPLZKTHXBYE!!!!11!!ONE!!!!"
Advance strafe also = amaster rifleman attacking you, which you still apprently easily killed once you siced a couple pets.
Just more proof that if this hadn't been a master the fight would have been even shorter.
Great post, Krup.
Let me summarize it even shorter: "If you can damage me.... Nerf you!"
