Thread: Question about YT-1300's

A few days after JTL released, I remember someone complaining that the YT-1300's laser cannons could not be fired unless an additional PC crewmember was in the turrets. I asked around on Gorath (my play server), and many of the shipwrights said they thought that the YT-1300 now had fixed laser cannons in the front that could be fired, but weren't sure. Could anyone tell me for certain whether they YT-1300 has any laser cannons at all that can be fired while flying solo or whether additional crewmen are mandatory to fire any sort of laser cannon?

Thanks.

Additional crew members are required to use the turrets.

Pilot only handles the missile systems, need a gunner or two to handle the turrets.

Yeah this is a problem with YT-1300. I hope they will fix it so that pilot has some guns.

It'd be okay if there was a ship in which you could walk around in and place items, and didnt' require a crew, but there isn't. There is the Sorosuub Yacht, but it handles like a brick and isn't combat capable. The latter point makes it a kind of non-entity because it neither effects or can be effected by the game. The YT-1300 with all it's repair panels, and various stations is a far more interesting ship to fly, but if you want to fly it on your own, you are unfairly penalised.

I agree but would like to point out that the multiplayer ships are in fact multiplayer meaning more then one. I think they are by design supposed to be a crew ship and not soloable. Are the other two MP ships soloable can you fire any guns on them? If you can this is most certainly unfair to privateers in that case, but I define the MP ships as crew only not solo vessels that is what the snub-fighters are for.

The pilot is sopposed to control a laser that is in front of the ship and then the missle systems and then two people control the top and bottom turrets.

You are also missing a loot box in the YT-1300.

I also had crew go up lastnight and we only got xp.

WTH is with that?

You can not use eng pulse 3 ether because that is for the operations seat only, which is stupid, why couldn't Solo reach over and click a switch if Chew wasn't there working in back or something, stupid.

I think the DEVs need to view the movies again because the YT-1300 DID have forward firing guns.

It should have 3 weapon mounts, 2 turrent and 1 forward.

Agreed. There's been some extensive discussion on this issue, and it seems that the end consensus was that Han also needed a gunner, and never did go into battle solo, nor did he ever fire the guns while in the pilot's seat.

I, for one, agree with the way it is now. And I have one. Check the sig.

Yeah the pilot is suppose to have control of all the lasers. It's just when you have people manning the turrents, it's suppose to be more accurate.

Uh yes he did.

In ESB he used a forward gun that dropped out and shot the snow troopers in the hanger before taken off.

Why couldn't the pilot have a small forwardgun that could be controled use the HAT switch or something.

Oh, wow. I stand corrected! In that whole thread not one brought that up.

However, can that gun be hardly considered space-combat worthy?

No No No No No

This had a thread in beta which went on for ages.

Myself? Leave it as it is. Giving any projectile weapon for the Pilot on a MPS would make all other ships once you get to master level POINTLESS.

Think Space Composite. The MPS have the HIGHEST mass allowing them to have the HIGHEST ARMOUR, BEST WEAPONS, BIGGEST SHIELDS, BEST CAPACITORS, BEST BOOSTERS, (Insert Component here).

You cannot have your cake and eat it.

You cannot point to references because otherwise we may as well follow projectile weapons for MPS pilots to Ties not having shields . . . . . . . .

Pilots HAVE forward firing abilities. 36 Mark IV proton missiles if it flicks your bean. Or 12 Mark IV proton missiles and 24 countermeasures. The best. Anyone have any stats for these missiles?

These ships, as they are, are THE best part of the expansion.
