What is the hole in my yacht for? In that weird closet by the escape hatch. The one you can't walk into.
What's that all about?

I think they call it a 'fresher... *snicker*
Seriously though... I think it's just supposed to be some kind of access conduit to the lower levels of the ship. Just notionally. More there for effect than anything. That's my best guess though. It's not Star Trek so It's not a transporter. Any other creative guesses out there?

That was my first guess too actually. Either that or a dumbwaiter to send food up to the cockpit.

I heard the yacht originally had guns on it and that was the turret hole.

That is what it was. Maybe now that starter ships are upgradable the yacht will be too. The argument before was that it is free, so non-upgradable. The devs shout that one to hell in this last patch! I hope at teh very least we can change boosters and engines in it, 400 is way to slow!

No, the argument is that its invaunerable, so should not be able to do any damage. Unless of course, you want to see people setting up an out of game macro system to control their turret and leave the ship floating in space at a POI farming loot for all eternity.

So make it vunerable if you put a gun on it. Simple.Wait, that might be too simple for the devs.

Yes you are correct, the old brain must be failinganyway I don't care about guns on it, I just want a faster engine!
Where do you want to go so fast on a yacht anyway? It's a party barge, not the USS Enterprise.

As it turns out, the dev/artist that worked on the yacht is a fellow Smuggler, SWG-Goliath.Here's what he had to say concerning the yacht:

Exactly, it's a party barge. Not a warship, not a racing ship. A party barge. Its a nice ship and does what it is designed to do. Leave it invulnerable. The speed is fine.
