I've always gone for the box that allows you to use better equipment. Sure the special abilities are great, but it's first on tier 4 that I've felt the need to use them.

would it not be better to get the new ships in stead of the new equipment, ive seen the mass on some of the level6+ components and theres no way id be able to stick them in my TIE/IN

I don't know how the mass is on the Imperial ships, I used the same ship from tier 2 to tier 4, and there was no problem fitting in the equipment I needed. However from about level 6-10 the mass on the equipment rises very quickly while the improvement in effect is very little.

sure you can, i had a lvl6 gun lvl4 engine and lvl7 shield in my tie/in. i never even flew the interceptor, stayed in the tie/in until i hit 4333. just dont use armor and go with ultra low mass reactor booster droid inteface and capacitor.
get equipment first for the first 3 tiers, and then on tier4 get 4333 first since the tie-advanced kicks serious butt. getting the tie-interceptor basicly just gives you alnother 10k mass, which you cant even use with lvl5 gear.

Armor does not regenerate. Shields do. Get a shield with good regen (13+), and hit the enemy hard and fast. With any luck, there won't be enough of the enemy left to penetrate your shields.
This was and is my standard operating procedure, and I only die when a gunboat manages to surprise me.
As long as you plan out your attack beforehand, you don't need armor.

Personally, I got the ships box first and the interceptor. My TIE/IN was packed and I was very tired of it. I enjoyed the interceptor a lot.
If you are not already using reactor, engine, cap and weapon overload programs along with captoshieldstunt, look into those as well, as they will greatly improve your performance and survivbility.

If youre an imp pilot then i would get the ship box. Bomber strike is ok as a diversion but it tends to be pretty weak, and if you get parts, chances are that you cant fit them in your tier 2 ship. Your choice tho

If your good at managing your ship, then mass in a T/Ln shouldnt be a problem just yet. Id go for equipment first. T/I 2nd, and bomberstrike 3rd.

i decided to go for the prst first and i bought a pretty good shield, this helped alot with the next mission and im now 3/3/2/2 working on the next mission with my TIE Interceptor, but im thinking of just chocking my TIE Bomber to the brim with stuff as i got shot to s*** when i tried attacking the gun boat thingy with my Interceptor, so whats better for the 3rd imp mission, speed and manuvarability or attack and defence power?

for impy pilot, get the ship first, then component use, the imp pilots are gimped (no pun intended) when it comes to mass on thier ships, however for any other pilot prof, get the equipment first! better equip keeps you alive much longer
