Sounds Awesome!!!! If it comes true
. The past has shown us that not all good things make it through. So, let us not get our hopes up quite so soon.

Not to dampen your spirits, but the asteroid category has been there since JTL got released. Was there in JTL beta too.
Don't get your hopes up just yet.

Like the "glasses" and "earrings" has been a category since SWG launched.

I know, i just cant help but be optimistic about this. Mostly because it would great seeing folks out in space doing non-combat related activities, needing escorts etc. It would be one of many things the devs could do to really help breath some life into JTL. Player 2 player ship docking, real smuggling and blockade running, and greatly enhanced MP ship system being a few of the others.

If you are patient, you will be rewarded.
This is my firm belief. So if I have to be in SWG for 72+ months to see multiplayer vehicles (or space mining, whatever), so be it.

I think it would be a great addition to see a mining class vessel. I think it would add a lot in regards to crafting classes getting more use out of JTL besides the usual go out and kill stuff for space loot. Not too mention it would also add to the "Star Warseyness" to see more frieghters cruising around space instead of nothing but fighters.
Here's to hoping you're right!

Im sure that others have noticed that the new Website kit you can download from the main site for SWG has a concept drawing in it of ships mining asteroids. It was also noted by someone in another forum section that their is an asteroid category on the bazaar now as well. Could this mean that we are about to see JTL space mining?!? Man would that be wicked cool!
Here's hoping this is a surprise brewing for us... *fingers crossed*

Actually Xan from the space mining conceptual pic from SOE's web package, it depicts 2 ships working in tandem to mine an asteroid. One ship is using a laser to slice a chunk off and the other ship is gathering the pieces as they are released. So no harvestors would be involved at all in this concept. Just mining ships, which is a really neat idea imho.

This whole space mining idea sounds like a bit much, how would u target, dock and mine the asteriods? Placing space harvesters on them via missle delivery would be an idea tho so u can use that like a ground harvester, come bac later and dock with it. The asteriod's resources would have to be uber tho and there should be a risk of the minig installations becoming damage or destroyed by npcs or other space debris, overall good idea.

I recently looted a datadisk called 'How to Mine' (like the Dancers Woe text), upon reading it was very vague, but again we have a mining related item in the game............
The old Elite space game had a mining cannon as a weapon, it chipped small pieces off asteroids which you then picked up with your cargo scoop (you used to have to'run over'over floating containers of loot to pick them up). Maybe JTL will do something similar as this only needs a new weapon type to fit to existing ships.

Allof the Space MMORPGs I have played, uses mininglasers (JumpGate, EVE Online, Vendetta Online).
In Jtl, the loot from the defeeted ships are "migcaly" transfered to your inventory, so, the easiest way to implement space mining would be to give asteroids a HP walue, and then transfer some rescorses to the player that destroy it whith their wepons.
