Now, i was wondering if this was possible or not, i've run into a few instances where i've had targets shot at by other players when i'm doing my "Destroy the Leader" missions for the Freelancers. I don't know if its possible to kill other person's mission target, because i've seen myself shooting at someones target causing no damage and i get this strange beep noise. I assumed that was an audio noise hinting that i couldn't attack someone elses target.
What i want to know is whether or not other players (not group members) and Kill steal your mission targets. Because seriously, it was pretty annoying to see not just1, but3 players, chasing after ALL of my mission targets.

Other players can not kill steal your mission targets. Their blasters will do no damage. The only problem is that it is difficult to tell the difference between targets. If someones mission spawns near your mission there will be alot of confusion. This was brought up in beta but nothing was done.

I dont think you can kill other people's mission targets. I tried shooting some fighters (who I think were part of someone's mission) and I kept on getting a weird sound, I also noticed their shield wasnt going down.

IF you shoot enemys in someone else's missions you hear a beep and the blaster will do no damage
so the answer to your question is no

Correct. In fact KS was a huge problem in early beta and the devsmade it a priority to remedy the problem. Now only you or people in your group can shoot down your mission spawns. But if they are natural spawns, its anyone's game.

Yeah, I have seen other pilots shoot at my target but I don't think they have done any damage.
I was wondering...is there a command or key that will allow you to target only your mission enemies? When my mission spwans near someone else spawn its too hard to tell wich one is mine by TAB key or cycle with T key. I know that a red box appears around my targets, but I still have to orient my view to double check if I have targeted one of my mision enemies. It would save me time and effort if there was a key for targeting closest "mission" enemy and notthe closest enemy.

Um one problem....if you fly near these angry npcs waiting for there "pilot of fortune" to arrive...
Do they go after you? If you can't fire back I mean..somethings abit wrong there...maybe in a dog fight (your bound to fly after someone or run from someone too) things get a bit crazy, and you end up flying into someone elses foes...you mean they don't react..
This all sounds abit worrying, kill stealing is a bugg3r, IL2 sturmovik forgottenbattles suffers from this greatly...but not defending yourself against attackers...well worrying to say in the least!

Only you, any in your group or any like-factioned NPC's.

What I love doing isdisabling theengines of my mission targetand just watch as the n00b takes about 5 minutes to realise he hasn't done any damage to the now stationary ship. Evil I know but funny.

I see red boxes around all my misson targets. That is how you know which ones are your target and which ones are not.
If you start to shoot them, they automatically become your target as well. no need for the TAB button (usually).

Temper temper, its just a figure of speech, they shouldn't barge into other people missions anyway and, thankfully they can't.
