probably not as it would be considered an old ship even older than the Z-95

Nice looking ship...But yeah....If it shows up, it would be a light fighter like the Z-95/Scyk. However if I remember correctly Palpy bans/confiscates all Republic technology when he officially forms the Empire.
Also for you Mon Cal lovers

one of the problems with the way lucas has done the new movies- he kind of ignored the time lapse. most of the equipment from the first two is pretty high tech, and alot of it seems to be better than the equipment from the last 3 movies. lets think about technology regression for a second. if you can mass produce a badass light fighter like that one, why make your entire fleet out of shieldless tie fighters?
think about the nabooian light fighters from the first movie. light, manuverable, armored, sleek. why isnt the rebellion flying those instead of A wings? technically, they should be able to procure them easily, especially as such older technology.
the fact were stuck with is: we get to oggle alot of cool equipment from the new movies that, because it doenst seem to exist in episode 4, we will never get to fly.

Actually, he did not ignore it. The technology does actually get better, but only within the Empire. It's just that now, it doesn't look as good. Looking good doesn't mean better, or more practical. That's what he is going for here, more practical. They have that worn-in, industrial look, but the technology is better.

Actully, Lucas wanted the ships of Pre-Clone Wars to be beautiful in style and look to reflect a golden era of technology. The more "junkier" style of the Classic movies is to show a harsh more careless design era that reflected a more Technology time. Think in terms of a balance of:
Organic/Art --------Technology

Just in case anyone wants to see a 3-D image of the ARC-170, it can be seen for a second or two in the Episode III trailer.
I'd personally love to fly this...Maybe make it a limited-use schematic (due to the Empire's obliteration of the Old Republic)?

You know I always thought of the styling of the prequels as the really stylish classic cars, like those from the 50s to early 60s.As the prequels progress,we get to see the designs move to more of the late 60s to 70s, which lends a natural progression to the original trilogy. The original trilogy is a dark time for design, kinda like the 80s.

Exactly! And we all can agree who has the better technology too. It makes sense.

Definitely not a light fighter. A summary from BTH picture:
23 meter wingspan, 2 laser cannons, 2 aft facing cannons, six torpedoes, crew of 3 and an astromech.
Sounds like it could be the privateer's answer to the TIE Aggressor / Y Wing.
Master Level ship anyone?
