Hi
I don't like when many players leave their characters AFK and start to spam shouting. Usually for selling objects or recruiting clan members.
Is there any way to avoid this?. The only solution is to ignore AFK players, but I have 20 players ignored yet...
Regards

To Aviod it, No.. The old saying goes "The Safest , is No " Short of not playing, there's no way to aviod them, just /addignore If it really a problem for you. I personally like them, they dont hurt me and have helped many times.
And there's a box you can check to ignore AFK players, However if you do click the "ignore afk players" don't freak out when you can't see your own chat bubbles (because if you're afk you wont).

Agreed, this sucks, it's an ugly part of the game and there should be a way to filter it out.
What I'd love to see is Storm Troopers/Rebels patrolling the SP's and if someone was doing this they would demand money or attack. IE no loitering, pay me or I'll blast you.

Are we to assume youchose forum nickname after the "exploit" of tumbling?
How can you come here and complain about a non-exploited game function because it annoys you & then turn around, turn on your tumble macro and go afk? Just because you're not spamming it's okay?
There are Many Filters, I'd like to see you players "exploiting" suspended, Fired Upon, Fined or whatever else you wish upon the spammers!

Calm down, no reason to burst a vein over this.

There is an option to ignore all messages from AFK players. Turn that on and anyplayer listed AFK is essentially ignored until they are no longer listed that way. It is not a complete solution, as not all spammers and generally annoying people around Starports and such are technically listed as AFK by the system, but I think it is better than a /ignore list growing that way.

Once the devs remove recursive macros, in theory, AFK chat spam will die. You will still get people spamming but they at least have to be at the keyboard meaning they will do it less. The only exception will be the crazy people that get third party programs that simulate keypresses, but that is a bannable offence.

Eh...LOL...wow.
1. My nickname came from the Video game Apache Longbow by Janes Combat simulations. One of the pilots you could choose had the callsign and it stuck. Sorry I don't use this tumbling exploit you talk about.
2. I didn't start the thread but I thought I'd contribute...
3. I'd still like to see storm troopers ruff up afk ppl in starports.

He does bring up a point. The only thing I hate more then Spatial Spammers is combat spammers. I have a separate chat window that shows all combat info. When somone turns on a tumble macro (for docs to heal for xp) it spamms the tumble in my combat window. I have ignored more people for that alone then for spatial spam. The solution for that is easy. Have to combat channels. One for all combat affecting you and one for everyone else. I am more interested in what I am doing in combat.

The problem (or my problem) is that spammers affect to roleplay. I usually roleplay in general chat because is the way to communicate with my sourroundings, so, if I see the chat filled with the same words all the time, is very difficult to follow a conversation. It has not sense to roleplaty using group chat or private message, I don't want to group with everybody every time I want to say something near a starport.
Thanks for the Ignore AFK tip, I think that is the best solution at the moment.
Regards.

it would be awesome if SOE had 1 dev per server to look for spammers, then mute the spammers completely of any chat "like remove their chat box" for 2 days as punishment

turn Groupchat on is the easiest way.
Report Spam extremists (Those who post they´re Add every second or 2. Every 2 minutes is sufficient imho. I sometimes Advertise AFK as well, but my pause in the macro is allways a minute or 2 or even more).

Weird that nobody has posted this?
While ingame, go to options (ctrl+o), press the chat tab, and then uncheck the "Show chat from AFK players" that should help reduce out 75% of the spam...
