Thread: Has this been discussed?

I'm thinking that as pilots, we shouldn't be able to pilot ever ship right off the bat. I think it would be cool, to give more advanced combat/merchant ships to have certifications like for weapons. This would allow shipwrights to still be useful to lower level pilots as they acquire their skills, and for repairing the higher lvl pilot' ships. Just a thought, tell me what you guys/gals think

You will get certifications for better ships as you advance through the pilot profession.

Has there been a proposal to allow a Master ranger a higher pet level? I ask this because as a hunt mastter there is usually a dog involved for either pointing, retrieving, treeing or even attacking the target. As a Master Ranger and a MCH I use my pets for the attacking part of this. i think a Master Ranger should have the ability to control higher level pets. Not a level 70 like MCH but around 25. of course the greedy side of me would like to apply the extra 15 level to MCH but i think that is asking a little too much. At least give Master Ranger some pet commands others don't get. Any feedback is appreciated.

Wow, this really gave me an Idea:

Say, you have just tracked down some critter, you could target it in the tracking interface and have your pet run to it. Not into combat right away, but just in the very direction of the desired mob up to a safe distance of 70m or so...
Kinda like a pointdog or something.

And I like the idea of MRs having a higher level pet a lot!

Can you give some cogent compelling reasons why we should have a higher pet level?

Besides the fact that I harvest multiple animals all day long, I don't have any affinity for them. None. No CH in the template. I view them as walking containers, that's it. I have droids as pets, not creatures. I don't have to like the creatures I harvest, only understand theirbehaviors enough to give me an edge in combat.

We should be the antithesis of the CH. They tame them, we harvest them.

My opine, and yes this has been discussed.

I'm with JB on this one. I have a kaadu that I ride and that's it. I'm more like a butcher than a tree-hugger/animal lover. Like that goofy hunter supervillan marvel used to have... Kazar? Kazan? anyway, that's me.

but, i dont' see a problem with giving master ranger like +5 to creature level so we can have mounts with a little better HAM. since we are out solo alot, and lots of us use mounts anyways.....

it would be cool, but as JB said, i dont think there is a 'need' for it.

It can be argued that a Ranger knows his creatures, in a way a CH does not. Soa little higher (+5, +10) might be a nice difference and add on for Ranger. It's not a necessity tough.

What I'd like myself (not because I'm one) is that a combiner MR/MCH gets an additional bonus (+10, +20) to the CL level to be controlled. Reasoning behind this: As a MR I know what the weaknesses are of the creatures and as CH I know how to handle them. Combined it should give me an extra edge the MCH without MR wouldn't have. But this is more a CHfix then a Ranger fix (and yes, it's talked about in CH forum too).

A BE could be said to have a very in depth understanding of animal physiology and therefore should get a bonus for creature harvesting.

A CH knows how animals act and should be able to sneak by them more efficiently (a la /conceal).

I could do many more of these, but they all result in one profession getting the mods of another profession without earning them, per se.

I agree. I just got a fambaa from a friend and love it. My pets are my buddies. Having said that though, I believe that they should be kept under the CH prof and not a part of Ranger. If I want my pets bad enough, I'll sacrifice some other points for those extra CH boxes.

BTW, I named him GAWZIRRA!!!
