Thread: How do you guys do the math?
I seem to have problem doing the math, specially the energy consumption. When I fly my oppressor that have 17k I have no problem using weapon overload 3 on my 2 uber weapon. But when I try using it on my JSF that have only 14.5k one of them gets disabled

I got the JSF today and it was a real change going from 170k mass to 90k mass :/
Engaging "Grandpa" mode...
When I was a lad, we'd have to work with 65k mass, and 300/300/150 YPR! And our hitboxes were larger! Oh aye, and we'd still manage to fit a 2.5k f/b shield in there! You new'uns live in luxury I tell ya! Bah humbug!
It might help for the actual problem if you post your entire loadout. That way people can tell you what you're doing wrong. Personally i'm a bit confused since Weapon Overload Three is currently bugged (or at least, last time I checked
I'm having a hard time seeing you with problems running WO3 on a 14.5k reactor. You are running RO3 or 4, right?
If you're having problems, look at the reactor drain on your components. My Actis is around 11000, and I could improve that a lot through RE work.
It looks like something is funky, either not overloading the reactor, or accidentally hitting WO2 instead of 3.
Post what your Reactor Drain is on your ship, that might help us as well. I know none of mine, save my Opp, ever break the 10k mark, but I do a ton of RE'ing for the lowest possible RED. Being able to slap a level 2 reactor on my Opp is quite nice, and getting by with some basic level 1's for all my other ships doesn't hurt.
Granted, my Deci flys around with my 42k reactor. But that's just cause he's never in combat and never really doing much other then fly-by's of the stations.

And yes I do know that my weapons suck, gonna get a SW to make me some new ones
Looks okay - little high on the weapons, but nothign that should cause the problems you're having. What droid programs do you run, and in what order? As a rule of thumb, always run them like this:
- Reactor Overload (3 if you don't want decay, 4 if you're familiar with all the tricks to get around it)
- Weapon Overload 3- WO3 will actually give you more power not running the overload
- Cap Overcharge 3 or 4
- Engine Overload - Probably 3, maybe 4 on that rig. EO is a major powerhog.
I think I mentioned this above - there's another guide linked in my sig that will give you exact numbers for doing the math. The important part is that you run RO and WO3 first to give yourself lots of power to work with.

When on my oppressor it doesnt matter in what order I run them, I just use weapon overload 3 and engine overload 3 and everything works perfectly.
But when trying to use it on my JSF one of the weapon shuts down, I've tried WO3 then EO3 and vice versa, still one weapon gets disabled.
But, more in depth:
Let's say you run RO3 first. That'll bump your reactor to about 23.4k generation. So you're now at:
Energy: 12211/23400
Then go with EO3, putting your engine RED at 7568, increase of 5298
Energy: 17509/23400
You should then be able to run WO3 and that energy required will actually drop, due to it's nice little glitch. If, though, you accidentally hit WO2, you'll end up with:
Weapon 1 RED: 4725.2
Weapon 2 RED: 5600.2
Increase: 5162.7
Energy: 22671.7/23400
Still putting you under the limit.
Ok. So you could hit WO2 and not disable something. Only thing I could think of is hitting EO4 instead of EO3.
Engine RED: 22706
Energy: 34917/23400
Way too much required
So, if you instead used RO4:
Reactor Generation: ~28500
Still wouldnt be able to get EO4 running without some things getting disabled.
Looks like the biggest thing is get those parts RE'd down. Engine should, idealy, be under 1500 RED and shield near the same, but I'd give 2k just to be safe.
Conclusion: Unless you are trying to run EO4 (or not using any RO), you shouldn't have any problems overloading your stuff.
**Note: All these numbers are pulled from A Comprehensive Droid Routine Breakdown, pretty much a *must read* for people having issues with droid programs.

Numbers always help. Quick glance over it say's make a friend of a SW to get some RE'd parts.

I never run any *4 things cos that will mess things up
Engine: 17509/14643 Diff of almost 3k
That right there would be doing it. It'll start at the bottom of your list and disable it's way to the top. So your 2nd weapon would be disabled and probably have a lowered efficiency on the first, until you hit WO3. Then the first should work at 100%, but 2nd will still be disabled.
Run Reactor Overload 3 before you overload your engine and all will be good.

Ahh. I think I've got it figured. You're not using Reactor Overload 3 are you? That right there would answer it all.

Lol never used another class driod command, but I'll got to that, jsut have to find a friendly freelancer pilot to help me.
And I was the same way. I never used Imp/Rebel programs until I mastered those squadrons. And what's the real kicker, I went Freelance -> Rebel -> Imperial. So 2.5 masteries before I even got WO3, and never had enough reactor to use the overload 2's, mainly cause back then, I was still a bit noobish about programs and never burnt off any chips from my freelancer. Now that I've got an Imp and a Freelance master, I'm happy as can be when it comes to reprogramming droids.
