I have heard a lot of bad stuff bout the A-wing and was really sad , cause i had always liked them. but i went ahead and got one anyway. the low mass sucks, and i could barely fit any of the stuff i wanted into it. So i sucked it up and put the basics into and and took my first Tier 4 mission solo with it. I was so happy with what happened. i had no armor on it and was expecting to get blow out of space in a few shots but instead i was able to keep the black suns from even getting my shield down more than half power just by dancing around a bit. the manuverability of the A-wing more than makes up for the lack of mass. all you gotta do is find some good REd low mass stuff and keep movin while in space and you will fall in love with this ship. at least i did.

Watch out, the rest of the Rebels may hunt you down.

A-Wing loadout (and all light fighter loadout, I suspect) is about knowing what you DON'T need. My two fighters of choice are an A-Wing (for having fun) and a Y-Wing Longprobe (for heavy missions, grinding, and bomber runs). Obviously, there's a gap there. Specificly a gap of over 100K mass. What I found was that a low mass, low yield reactor was more than I needed in the first place. REed parts of interest include the capacitor and the booster. In both cases, the A-Wing didn't need superb gear here, since the capacitor is only feeding one set of guns, and the ship is so damn fast in the first place a booster with a low yield but a slow burn was of more use to me anyhow.

Right now, I have an un-REed L8 blaster sitting on the A-Wing, and once I get enough pieces to make a nice RE out of it, I should have room for the armor. Droid shield commands become even more important on the A-Wing, as if I didn't already use them enough, but so far the only problem the A-Wing has presented me with was the lower-yield weaponry I had to employ while helping friends with their Privateer missions. Generally, the A-Wing performed better against lighter, nimbler TIEs than against the heavier Privateer ships. I actually had great success using the A-Wing to help people with Corvette missions, since it was an idea craft for boosting up to the Gunboats, performing a nasty strafe attack, and then boosting the hell out of firing range. Despite having 5-6 other people all hammering the Gunboat with larger ships and multiple weapon hardpoints, I got credit for the kill due to pure damage just because of the frequency of my strafing runs.

It's still second fiddle to my Y-Wing, and likely it always will be, but it's a great little ship, and as I get more deeply into PvP, I can find a great many uses for it.

My a-wing is great no problems with it what so ever with engine and weapon overload 3 in it (and a powerful low mass reactor) it can take out any ship with ease (even a SD )

Ok, I was under the impression that the AI "never missed" their shots. Is this not true then? Did you ever see blaster shots going past you? I've never seen shots from NPC's miss me. They seem to hit every time.

I love my A-wing, and it is the only ship I will ever fly, yes it takes some managment to get a good loadout, as a matter of fact, I gotta hunt down a new reactor, as mine has only 55armor and 55hp's, oops, musta got shot to many times.

I have been able to dodge blaster fire pretty well in my a-wing. tier 4+ are the only ones that can even land more than a few shots. tier 1-3 have a very low chance of even keeping up with you let alone getting shots off.

the best reactors to get i have found are crafted mark I reactors. mine has 11,000 energy and only 1000ish mass.

The A wing is a pure joy to fly. It is my porshe in space, and i know to tune it properly and make it purr, only RE parts will do.

I heard lots of things pro and con about the A-Wing. I just got mine over the weekend. It was a challenge to get the right components. I lucky to have an excellent Master Shipwright, Ewach of Sunrunner, to work with and he's gotten me off to a great start! Took my new ship out for its shake down flight Sunday evening and I can't believe what a great ship she is! Excellent manueverability...great speed...amazing firepower. In short; I LOVE MY A-WING!!!
