Thread: Convergance not needed in JTL

true, it appears that the z95's and x-wing's lasers overshoot the target on all sides, but the do in fact dmg the target
i've done extensive esperiments with my x-wing and z-95
dmg is delivered when the lasers over shoot the target on all sides, as long as it's an accurate shot using the crosshairs, also the proper sounds are made
true, convergance will make us feel more confident about hitting our targets, but i don't need convergance, i kill things just fine as my lasers oversshoot
also the lasers hit the target just as well
if you got mad skillz, you need not convergence

I have done extensive experiments with my Firespray myself, and if all lasers overshoot, they don't do any damage at all, unless I'm really really close to the targetlike hugging it's tail then it might do some damage, and that I think is a bug, by the way.
Only when it's close, do both hit. Otherwise, the convergence issue just manages to take one of the two shots away.
We DO need convergence. It detracts from my firepower by spreading the shots out. A benefit for the player who has trouble getting weapons on target-a defecit for players who target correctly. (Lack of convergence is shotgunning my weapons)

I didn't say convergence is a bug, lol. I was referring to the case where all of your laser boltsovershoot the targetyet you stillregisterdamage.

the convergance is not a bug, just something missing
second, just aim a little more above with your firsprayon yourtarget and your lasers will land (just like Rouge Squadron 2&3)this will work and is required until the devs put in convergance if they ever do

btw. could it be that any effects (shield when you hit) are completely client side? especially those "last seconds" shots at passing ships and other situations cause a "hit effect" but no damage is ever done so by now im at the point where looking at the ship isnt really helping and i always need to watch the numbers just to be sure im REALLY hitting.
there is 1 thing that may seem like a bug, but it's not:
after you start dmging the next category of componentson your target, the numbers don't go down for a few hits
the same goes for the real player: when your armor is gone, your components can take a few hits, then start to get real dmg
this is because the components themselves have armor in their stats ![]()

Ok, this is all true and I'll explain why. This is a spoiler though cause its kinda like explaining about Santa Claus.
In this game, like many others, the lasers you see are not real. They are pictures, not objects. The damage and chance to damage your opponent is calculated by your aiming reticule and the target crosshairs and mathematics, not by the graphic of your laser bolts. In the real world when you throw a rock at the window, it has to hit the window to break it. In a game, the rock can be thrown the opposite way and hit a tree and break the window if it is so programmed. The point of convergence is not accurate and you all already know that. If you haven't figured out by now that you DON'T target using convergence, but by the aiming reticule, then your aim will continue to be poor and you won't be hitting your target accurately.
You whiners are only asking for a cosmetic change, but it will not make your shots any more accurate. the primary thing is your crosshair aim and the picture of the laser bolts accompanies it, not the other way around. If you have multiple weapons firing, if you do damage thenall of your weapons hit, even if you "saw" one bolt fly past it.
Also, for extremely close combat, misses will happen a LOT more than hits anyway because even though the ship covers your whole screen, a very small part of it is the part that registers whether you hit it or not. the damage sweet spot does not expand as you get closer to the ship.

Wokka is bang on. This is proven by the fact that for a while in beta, there were no visible lasers, even though you were still doing damage.
The lasers are purely cosmetic.
Lol you said "bang" huh huh uh uh huh
