You know him. He is l33t. He is Uber. He is the man.
Swordsman. Combat Medic. A master of his trade.
Outside a starport. Our master swordsman glances around. Ahh.. No lines for buffs. My kind of place he thinks. 5 Master Doc's shouting. No lines....
Our hero pays for his buff. Suits up in his 90% Comp; takes up his 1100 dmg power hammer in one hand and some posions in the other. And begins his chant..
"Anyone want to duel. No db!!"
People flock in and out of the startport past him.
"Anyone want to duel. No db!!"
No takers.. Hmm No matter. Our hero continues his chant with a few /punch & /spit actions at people as the move past. Just to get some attention.
Still nothing.. Whats going on?
"I'll duel you"
YAY!!! A sucker thinks our hero. But alas he sees it is only a Master Dancer. She asks "What kind of ship do you use?"
Ship? I use my POWER HAMMER. The dancer just giggles at him and moves on into the starport.
What is going on? Where have all the fighters gone? Where are the Rifleman..the Jedi..
Finally he follows the crowd into the starport. The place is packed with people customizing ships. Making blueprints and launching into space.
Well..thinks our hero... Im l33t here. Im uber.. I can do this.
So off he goes. Finds himself a nice basic craft and launches into space.
A little tight fit with all the armor on.. And his hammer is in the way of the controls..
No matter.. He can do it.
But something is wrong...
The Tie Fighters seems to take no damage from his power hammer. X-Wings seem immune to his finely crafted posions. And the Hutt starships take no heed to his 90% Composite armor.
And just before Master Chef/Pilot Bob swoops in and turns our hero into space dust he thinks..
What happened? I was l33t. I was Uber.. I was the man...
What the hell happened?
See all of you in space and welcome to Star Wars.

I feel you on this, but hey...
now people have the choice between the regular, boring, quencker loop grind and the challenging, fun and rewarding pilot's grind.
add this to the fact that it's new, you got your answer.
but once people will get master pilot (or 4444 since master mission is hella hard) they'll get back to the grou/ind. just a matter of time.

so true! ... hehe ... i have tried a few duels in space ... and it is much more fun then duels on the ground ... the first one i ran into a person with that type of mentality ... that got mad at me for sending em packing before they could figure out the throttle and the fire button ... 'they challenged me, heh in the little scyk, and me in my dunelizard' ... the other one was about a 20 min long fight ... with plenty of maneuvers and we both basically destroyed one another ... was a good match ...
and our skill was just as important if not moreso then the equipment we were using ...
