I took a break from the forums for a few days. On my return I'm only saddened more by the negativity that has spawned here. Yes...buff bots are a nuisance. Yes we need to get our cantinas filled with LIVE entertainers again. Yes we need new content. THIS it's coming. But are there any posts about that....No...just wah wah wah. I wanna hear about the Entertainer Quests..I wanna hear about the new song coming up. Why aren't we hearing about these things??? I've been searching our forum and yes..we need things fixed. Maybe a punch list so we can actually see what the top issues that are being presented.

Why aren't we hearing about those things? Maybe because the lines of communication that are supposed to exist between ThunderHeart and our Correspondents has disintegrated. When NewJedi hears about the new songs coming out not directly from TH in the Correspondents' Forums, but from reading other posts he's making...that's not good.

The negativity's been here a while. Some recent developments have merely brought it to a new low, amazing as that is. I didn't think the Musician community could get much more depressed. And don't try and blow sunshine...there's plenty to be depressed about, and not exactly a whole lot of faith left in anything getting fixed. If you've got the energy to keep being perky after this long...good for you. Don't placate me and tell me everything's going to be fine, the devs will fix it someday...not good enough anymore for me. If it is for you, that's nice.

As usual, I see both the half-full and the half-empty part of the glass.

Half-full : there are new songs coming, and I don't really mind that the devs aren't telling us what kind of songs they are. There's something to be said for not spoiling a surprise. I don't really want to know until I hear it myself. There are new quests coming with the songs, and the Hutt Casino will amble along sooner or later too. Our existing songs all work pretty well-- not something you can say for all the Dancer flourishes -- and our buff is functional, even if the interface is lousy. As for communication, there's still more communication between devs and players in this game than in almost any other MMORPG, save maybe Dark Age of Camelot. As for the larger game, the Jedi revampand Jump to Light Speed are exciting developments, IMHO. SWG is still fun for me, a year after launch.

Half-empty : Why the devsdon't just abolish macros is beyond me. No other MMORPG has anywhere near this amount of unattended gameplay. It's disappointing to me that it's taken more than a year to get new songs (and they're still not here yet). More generally, our top-five list has been substantially the same since last year (except that buff improvements have replaced tipping), and there really hasn't been any movement on any of them other than a little new post-Master content, still not inthe game yet. No movement of note on anything else-- songs, AFK'ing, buff interface/duration/self-buff, player theaters, /register. And yes, I am personally disappointed that the devs aren't working with us Correspondents as closely as they used to, or at least not trusting us with as much information as they used to. Some of that is our own fault: Correspondents leak too much about what is said in confidence, and the devs then clam up. But some of it may also be a change in culture, which is too bad.

1. New songs, new instruments, and new sounds for each instrument. "New songs" and "new instruments" should be self-explanatory. By "new sounds," we mean that each instrument should have a unique sound. Right now, there are six horns but only two different horn sounds; likewise, the ommni box and bandfill sound identical. The nalargon too often sounds like a “steel drum.”.

I know the new song doesn't take care of ALL Of number 1. But this was THE number 1 April 2004 top issue. New Songs. YAY! We are getting them. And no..I'm not placating anyone by this post. I'm truely and honestly excited by this. Over a year not as a musicianon SWG and not planning on giving up.

I'm with you on that, Gknee. For me personally, new songs are the Number One issue. In my fantasies, I imagine having a hundred different songs to play. I'd actually get requests! Bands would specialize in particular repertoires! No two gigs would sound alike!

Hehe, OK, we're only getting a couple new songs. Still a heck of a lot better than nothing.
