...I got to re-craft my 4th gen (and maybe a 3rd gen) ?
From SWG Developer Responses to Questions November 2, 2005 (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=nge_discussion&message.id=3064)
"How are weapons changing in the new system (stats, relevant usage, etc.)?
Weapons now have two stats – damage and range. Some select weapons have an elemental damage value added."
Now we usually put from 8 to 10 Experimentation points in Efficiency...I think that all ours lightsabers have been crafted in this way...
But with Speed, SAC and FC gone, we should craft new lightsabers pre-NGE with all the Exp Points in damage or I'm missing something?

Might as well craft a few 3rd and 4th gen sabers with different combinations of each experiment category since no one seems to know how they'll convert.

cover your bases, folks. If you're MLS, or have a respec token that you can use to go MLS, plop yourself down in front of your fav crafting station and do some saber-making. I personally plan to make one of each generation (1st-4th), each style (1h, 2h, doublebladed), and will make differently experiemented ones of each.
Why both with spd & eff experimented sabers? Why bother with 1st and 2nd gen sabers? Dunno. I don't have any good reason to believe they'll be necessery. But then again, the only thing its costing me is some resources, time, and space in my bank saftey deposit box. Who knows, maybe sabers will be tradeable in the new system? Maybe they'll implement a master/padawan thing at some point, and you'll be able to help out a paddy with a top end saber.
The way I look at it, the worst thing that can happen is that sabers we make/get in the NGE are better than anything we can make now, and I've wasted some time and resources with my crafting. And, thats not so bad.
For what its worth, my saber crafting checklist looks like this...
4th gen 1h: dmg
4th gen 1h: spd
4th gen 1h: eff
4th gen 2h: dmg
4th gen 2h: spd
4th gen 2h: eff
4th gen db: dmg
4th gen db: spd
4th gen db: eff
then repeated for each of the generations.
